Using earbuds while driving is dangerous. I don't understand how people do it. I can't stand the lack of hearing information while using earbuds. Use the vehicle's Bluetooth system or if it doesn't have one, get a cheap adapter for it.

Dont use earbuds or anything else that can block your hearing of outside noise. You need to hear such things as the driver. ANC pass through is not a substitute.

Like others are saying, you should not be wearing ear buds while driving. ESPECIALLY noise cancelling buds.

Use the bluetooth in your car. If your car doesn't have bluetooth, get a small bluetooth speakerphone.

Either way, you should ALWAYS be muting yourself on conference calls, if you aren't speaking. Don't be that ******* who sits on the call making little noises that everyone has to listen to.

Or like one of my former coworkers who was on a remote meeting by phone, thought her audio was muted, and was telling her girlfriend in detail what they were about to do together in the shower as soon as her work meeting was over.

I use bone conducting headphones (Shokz) while on long road trips so I can listen to what I want without waking the family. You can hear outside sounds as if you weren't wearing headphones.

Yea, any "open back" headsets are an option but those options are pretty limited. Never tested them for call quality in meetings though, only had a cheap single ear set for night gaming on the console so I could still hear everyone in the house if something was needed.

Transparency mode on the newer Apple AirPods works the same way. You can hear everything around you just fine.

ANC and Transparency mode is not a replacement for open style earphones. Do not use them while driving. Your hearing is still affected by blocking your ear canals and relying on software to replay sounds it doesn't block out and deams worthy.

I use Shokz at the office. Even though my ears are open, I don't hear much outside of what I'm listening to. I wouldn't use them while driving.

Dude, how loud is your music? I have no problem hearing what's going on.

Probably should leave the windows open too. Don't want to miss any outside sounds. Today's luxury cars and their noise reducing glass and interior ANR are just too good. Very unsafe.

I have tried several different mics for phone calls while traveling and my favorite was the open ear Plantronics with boom Mic. My voice was always crystal clear and the volume was great while still being able to hear my surroundings. Highly recommend..

Poly completely screwed up Plantronics.

Plantronics used to be the best headsets in the business, bar none. I used to sell them all the time to businesses and I had my 5200UC that lasted around 5 years with no issues at all. When the battery finally had it, I went ahead and bought the same model but branded by Poly. The moment I unboxed the new headset, I could feel it was cheaper made than my Plantronics one. Everything about it just didn't feel the same. I started using it and it seemed to have all kinds of sound quality issues, both from the earpiece and the microphone.

You can try a Poly headset, but I think they're trash. Granted, Jabra isn't any better. Really, I haven't found a single business headset that I actually think is up to par, in the last few years. I will generally use my pixel pods Pro, if I want to wear headphones, but not having a detached mic means the microphone quality isn't very good.

Honestly, need to add amplifiers to pipe in noise from the outside. The number of electric vehicles with their near silent operating volume is increasing dramatically and we need to be aware of them at all times. Very unsafe.
