My daughter has asked for a 3D Printer for her birthday. I'd like to keep it under $300. Is that realistic? Anyone have a good rec?

Thanks so much. I am a total newbie to this world. Are there any necessary assessors or supplies needed?

Something to order with the printer, an assortment of filament in various colors.

Make sure it's compatible with the printer..

(without the AMS)

Get some PLA filament directly from Bambu as well (it's 45% off on their sale). You really shouldn't need much more than that to start. You probably won't need a glue stick but you SHOULD make sure you have some rubbing alcohol (and a microfiber cloth) to clean the plate from contaminants as needed. Otherwise dish soap works most of the time. You can print tools (like a scraper) yourself.

Later on you can get additional plates and/or the AMS if you feel the need. Just know that for the added convenience of the AMS, it also increases filament waste.

See my thread here about my A1 Mini.

If anyone is interested in taking on the project, I'll sell it and the AMS Lite together for $100. Located in DFW.

Piggybacking on this thread... We are in a similar situation with a 9 yr old (and us too), wanting to explore 3D printing. I have not done much research so it's pretty new to us.

After reading this post I was all set to buy an A1 combo.... however now thinking about P1S with AMS. What are your thoughts on A1 vs P1S? We don't really know yet what all we will get ourselves into, but we are just liking the enclosed box setup with the P1S.

Are they pretty similar as far as reliability, ease of use, etc?

Any bambu machine will probably be the easiest turn it on and it works. The enclosure would give you capability to print additional filament types (ABS / ASA for example). If it's within your budget, it's a good printer to get started with.

If budget allows the P1S is very much worth it over the A1

Yeah I'm actually now leaning towards the P2S.
