terlingua/ Tim McDaniel Class of 83 passed away this morning in a tragic accident, leaving his wife and daughter behind. I had known him and his family for the past 13 years and we became great friends. He opened my eyes to A&M and got me addicted to Texags. He became a father figure and adopted me every time they came to visit Aggieland. The McDaniel’s are wonderful people with a strong Christian faith. I please ask for your prayers for the family because it is going to be really rough on them. With the daughter starting A&M in the fall the mother will be left alone. He and his family helped me out and when I needed help my family could not provide and was a positive reinforcement that I cannot even begin to explain. This is tearing me apart so I can't even imagine how the family feels.
Today I had to give a daughter her father’s Aggie ring and it destroyed my heart. Come April when they softly call to muster I will stand with your family and say here for an old friend.
I love you Tim, We will miss the hell outta you!

He frequented this board and AO.

I want to thank everyone on here for your thoughts and prayers it has been a VERY hard two days on the family and I. I have been helping Elaina, Tim's wife, with arrangements for the funeral and trying to get some things in order. The daughter is taking it REALLY hard because she was so close to her father. She is a STRONG girl and is keeping a lot of her feelings inside right now and the mom is having difficulties right now with that. They think of me as a son and she sees me as an older brother and I will be there for them in anything they need.
I did not want to say how he passed because I did not want it to possibly turn into a gun debate in any form. As you guys have read it was a tragic gun accident and the worst part of it that it happened in front of his wife as he was setting the shotgun down to kiss her goodbye. Tim passed away instantly and was with God in his arms. Please pray for Elaina she is running through the motions right now and has not taken the time for it to set in. It is going to be a long road ahead for all of us.
Again thank you and please continue praying.

I want to thank EVERYONE for their thoughts and prayers it means so much to us! We had the funeral yesterday and it was really hard. I was able to get up and say a few words. I shared some stories and above everything made people remember what a generous man he was. He never met a stranger!
The visitation was Sunday night and it was PACKED. There were tons of people there to pay their respects to a great man. The day of the funeral it was also packed even with cold temperature and rain.
