Is there anything wrong with leaving 30 round mags loaded at all times? Is there a break in period or can I leave them loaded at all times?

If it is OK, do I leave 30 rounds in it or something less to avoid potential/possible spring damage?

Yeah, its cyclic fatigue that gets to metal springs. Keep 'em loaded!

I was trained not to leave the military style mags loaded with more than 25 (for long periods of time), but I can't provide any evidence that it makes any difference.

I can see where the other guys would be right on this. no arguement against keeping it loaded.

Who uses an empty magazine?

How long should a C-mag last? Is the spring easily replaced? I would expect the spring is the only thing to actually wear out.

Pmags - load them up to 30rds and leave them loaded as long as you want.

USGI mags - load them to 28rds and leave them loaded as long as you want.

The reason it isn't advised to keep a GI aluminum mag loaded to 30rds is because over time, the feed lips will bend. W/ a Pmag, just put the cover thingy on and you GTG.

As in beta c-mag? Don't know the spring life, but I do know they go to **** quickly and are hated by anyone that uses guns for a living.

Which mags are the best/longest lasting?

I have no idea if my mags are beta. My 5.45x39 mags were purchased with the gun. They say "C Products LLC, Newington CT" on the bottom. I believe they are the only manufacturer of the 5.45 mags. I guess I am stuck with them for now, good or bad, as they are the only ones making them that I am aware of.

The other mag I have is .223 and says "Brownells". It also came with the gun.

Any advice on good, long lasting mags with the best performance would be greatly appreciated.

C-Products mags are just fine. I've got a dozen or so of them. Take a sharpie or paint pen and number each of your mags. This way if you start having malfunctions with your rifle you can make a note of which mag it is happening with. If it only happens with one particular mag, then you take that mag out of service. If the malfunctions occur with all of your mags, then the problem is probably with the gun or ammo and not the mags.
