You almost certainly have several people interested(including me), and you might get a buyer, but the VAST majority of us will not entertain any transaction where a bill of sale is requested.

A bill of sale is a terrible idea that will do nothing to protect either the buyer or the seller in a transaction but do everything to assist a prosecutor against your defense. It is really a bad idea and so far, since this thread started in 2018, we have shunned such a request.

A bill of sale is a great virtue signal but will not get your gun sold on this thread.

I am finding it more and more prevalent that private collection sellers are asking for ID and doing signed BOS…..especially at gun shows. A couple of shows I have attended, required you to have a BOS to get out of the show with a gun….to prevent theft I suppose. Most recent for me was at an estate sale.

I've never had issue doing a bill of sale for a firearm, nor issue selling a firearm when I've asked for one.

However, there's no way I'll give someone a copy of my DL or LTC. Want to see it? Fine. Want to record any info off it? Get bent.

I do BOS for everyone I don't know, but as far as personal info, all I want is name and phone number and see DL and make sure name matches DL.

When I'm selling, I ask for the same thing my wife asks for when she's selling a jogging stroller or something: CASH.

Because I just don't see any difference in the two transactions.

To get this thread back on topic, I'm looking to buy an M1 Garand. Not picky on manufacturer, but I would like a Korean War era rifle if I can find one, as my dad fought there. You can email my username at yahoo if you have one available.

I saw this one listed yesterday. In Texas for sale by an individual on Guns Iternational. Barrel date and receiver dated in Korean War years.
There were others listed as well. Pricing dependent on condition.

Me too.

I just cannot understand how anyone can possibly think that a BOS is a good idea. It blows my mind. I just assume that they have never had a bad experience with police or prosecutors in court and just assume that it couldn't happen to them. It offers absolutely nothing for you and everything to people that will work against you. It's naive at best.

But yea we have had this discussion before. For those that do them or require them think long and hard about that decision.

Anyway to get the thread back on track I still have a Rem 700 classic in .300 H&H for sale or trade. Always looking for S&W revolvers and 1911 pistols.

Seems kind of a stretch on the seller's part to claim a 1954 rifle as a Korean War used rifle when the war ended in 1953.

I appreciate you sharing though.

I know. But that's a fine rifle and a fine cartridge!
Gunny456

Yea. Correct barrel date though. Did you see the one at the top of the list? Beautiful, date correct, but pricey.
I know a fellow collector that has one of what you're looking for. It's an honest rifle, not an arsenal refurbish. Even has correct stock cartouches…. and it's an International Harvester all the way.
Have no idea if he would sell. Do you have a budget range?

I'd like to stay under $1500 if possible. I may order from CMP and take a gamble on a field grade.

We moved into a new house and I'm setting up my home office. Part of the office will be decorated in memory of my Dad. He fought in Korea, so I thought this would be nice to display, especially if I can find one manufactured in the correct timeframe.
Gunny456

Absolutely!! That would be a cool thing and great honor to your dad! Good son!
I thank your dad for his service and sacrifice. As is often said Korea is the " forgotten war" and it was brutal for the men who fought in it.
I fiddle with military firearms and older western guns.
I have some circle of friends that we buy and trade. I'll dig around for you and see what I find.

I really appreciate it. I already submitted an order form for a CMP 1911. I have an M1 carbine. It's a Universal, but it's an early one with mostly GI parts and it actually is a good, reliable shooter.

Yeah, you're probably right about all that. I revised the criteria. I've bought a lot of guns without a BoS. So, thinking back, I figure I don't need one. If, you're interested let me know.

Aero lower (takes Glock mags) with aero internals, B5 grip, skelotonized stock, carbine buffer and spring. I didn't do my research and this lower doesn't work in the Cmmg RDB upper so I just bought a Cmmg lower.

SOLD

FS Winchester Model 70 Classic Stainless Featherweight. This is rifle somewhat rare it is what is considered a five digit classic which means it is very early production when controlled round feed was reintroduced in the early to mid 90's. In addition to that making it rare it is in 308 Winchester short action which is also less common. Has the plastic stock asking $1000 located in BCS. Email LDG397 at gmail for pics.

I have one in 243 with the original wood stock as well which is even less common.

Kind of a model 70 nerd, have three more low six digit stainless classics one custom 300wm and a factory 375h&h and an uncommon 24" barrel sporter 270. Not to mention my blued classic 6.5x55 and several pre64's.

Me, too. I'm looking for a PCC and have narrowed it down to maybe a Banshee with an 8" barrel if anyone has one. If I found a used one, I'd want to know more about the BOS issue.

Because anything you say, can and will be used AGAINST you.
Prosecutors can twist things in all kinds of manners, especially gun haters with an agenda.

From buyer perspective, do you trust that person you are buying from not to rob you or give your address out to others? Or not be robbed and have that safe full of records stolen?

As a seller, if you're worried about liability, go through an FFL, BOS on an non witnessed private transaction isn't worth much in court.

As a buyer. Same thing but opens you to more issues with the address of the gun being out there.

Basically it doesn't do anything that is legally a positive.
