Trigger isnt as bad as I expected. Balanced well, ambi everything. Will wring it out at the range sometime soon.

Ugh. So damn jealous. I wanna cosplay my childhood dreams of blasting genocidal aliens with it. I've watched more in depth reviews since the release and the consensus so far I think it that it is nothing earth shattering of course but better than most expect. I still have not seen a single one in the wild yet but keeping my eyes peeled now.

Still need to shoot mine but I think thats an apt description.

I wouldnt recommend this over a similarly priced AR, but I have been impressed with the design, the fit and finish, etc.

Really excited they were smart enough to build a suppressed setting into the gun. Looking forward to trying that out as well.

Necro thread revival. Still have my VHS/Hellion. Figured I would share some additional thoughts after owning and shooting it for a couple years.

Things I didn't love about the stock gun:
1) length of pull. I"m 6 feet tall with long arms, I like the A2 length AR stock, and this is still...long.
2) safety. Using the stock BCM grip, its hard to reach.
3) magwell is incredibly narrow and already in a harder sport to use than a regular rifle.
4) trigger. It's a bullpup trigger. its perfectly serviceable but its not the best

Things I really did like about the rifle and why I kept it instead of trading it off:
1) Ambi everything is awesome, especially for a left eye dominant shooter like me
2) great accuracy, with both 55gr and 77gr
3) soft recoil impulse, reliable
4) suppressor setting. really nice to shoot suppressed with less gas impulse into the system. Works well.

There are aftermarket solutions to most of the problems I listed so I tried some. There are even aftermarket triggers out there but I don't hate the trigger enough and have heard sketchy reports on reliability so I kept that stock for now.

I did try out a smaller grip (Irregular Defense Special K) to make reaching the safety easier, a Lunar Concepts enhanced magwell, and a Manticore butt stock to reduce the length of pull.

With a few aftermarket parts of fix the problems I had, the VHS is a really solid rifle. I'm still a fan, after spending more time with it.

I'm still surprised they didn't remove a few inches to get it to the minimum rifle length limit. I get it's still quite a bit shorter than any AR with a 16" barrel, and is only a few inches longer than the Tavor which doesn't have an adjustable stock, but feel like the main draw would/should be the smallest 16" platform possible without needing sbr registration.

If it was designed specifically to comply with our idiotic laws, yeah I totally agree.

Its a military rifle that Springfield decided to import, so I think they tried to keep it as close to the VHS-2 as possible, both for ease of manufacturing and because people who buy this kind of thing usually want it to be close to how it was issued.

Thankfully companies like Manticore have stepped in to fix stuff like that if you're like me and prefer a better shooting experience over looking clone correct.
