Jacks Point was easily the coolest golf course I've ever played.

Drove a couple hours east to the South Pacific Ocean today to get into some different country and check a few more hunts off the list. Did some swan hunting which was a lot of fun and then thermal night hunted for wallabies. Man, that was a blast! Farmers hate the wallabies because they eat a bunch of the winter crop that is intended for the sheep and cattle. They are the feral pigs of New Zealand and there are piles of them in this area. You could look into a field and see 100+ eating and hopping around. It was crazy. Even managed to catch a hedgehog, which was really neat. Cool creature! I can't believe how fast this trip is going by. Tomorrow we will head back to the main camp for our last night in the hunting area. Will try to knock out a few paradise ducks tomorrow afternoon. Then back to Queenstown for one last night before heading back to the states on Saturday.

That last photo is wall worthy!

Those beach pebbles are pretty neat as well. Not something you see everyday.

Thanks for sharing your story and the beautiful pics.
Are all of the animals native to New Zealand (particularly the Stag)?

We used a suppressed .223 with a thermal scope for the wallabies.

On the swans, we spot and stalked them. Completely different style of waterfowl hunting than I've ever done, but a lot of fun. Just massive birds.

The rock beach was definitely unique. Certainly not the beach to build a sand castle! We laughed because there was miles and miles of all those expensive rocks that we use for landscaping back home.

Fun fact on New Zealand. A couple species of bats are the only native land mammals. The only other native mammals are marine animals.

Aside from the tahr & stag, what are you mounting and how do the logistics work? I assume any fowl has to be done there & shipped? I'm going in '26 and would like some insight into that process.

Will be mounting the stag, tahr, swan, paradise duck pair, and wallaby. Hides are salted and everything goes in a crate a ships directly to my taxidermist for tanning/mounting in the states.

Made it back to Texas today and man did it suck when they opened that plane door to 95 degree heat and 90 percent humidity. That weather in NZ was phenomenal our whole trip (upper 30s to low 60s)! We did meet the next group of hunters going with our same guide at our hotel in Queenstown when we were leaving and the rain in moving in during the next few days. We hit it perfect. I think they are going to get 3-4 days of solid rain. A few other pics from the trip…..

We put the finishing touch on our outstanding trip with an incredible dinner at Botswana Butchery in Queenstown.
