Has anyone been to this festival? Any good advice?

I am trying to decide if General Admission Plus is good enough or if I should splurge and get the VIP tickets. Kinda last minute thing since my wife and daughter decided to want to go, and tickets go on sale tomorrow.

Not everyone gets the same version of me. One person might tell you I have an amazing beautiful soul. Another might tell you I’m a cold-hearted a$$^ole. Believe them both. I don’t treat people badly. I treat them accordingly - unknown

We went last year. Can't remember but I think we were just general admission. From memory I think the GA+ gets you a little closer and it's less crowded. It's an awesome festival, keeps you occupied all day. There's 4 stages so you can kind of hop around and see who you want. The big stage is on a massive lawn, bring a folding chair and just set it up wherever you can. You can come and go all day, no one messed with ours.

One tip is to park on Holly Street south/east of the river. We didn't have to deal with any traffic and it was free.

Really want to go this year but my brother gets his ring that weekend so I'll be occupied

I was just looking at this last night and will probably go both days.

Any recommendations on places to stay?

We are really looking forward to it! This may sound silly, but my wife and daughter don't handle large crowds very well.

That's why I'm leaning toward the VIP tickets. It would allow them to be closer to the action without being in the mosh pit.

For example, when we attended Live at the Station and had VIP tickets, we stood at the very back and could still see the stage. They loved it!

Holiday Inn Express had rooms as of yesterday. We used our points.

We went last year both days and had GA tickets. It was great. The park is laid out so you never feel crowded. I really couldn't see a big advantage with VIP except maybe bathroom access. We also went to the Station last year with VIP, but the 2 venues don't really compare. There is great parking to purchase right across from the entrance as well at Two Step.

Try the Sheraton on Rivery. There are a couple of good restaurants/bars nearby.

Can you pay at that lot when you arrive, or is it presale?

The only thing I'm seeing available on the site includes a shuttle ride, which sounds terrible.

It was pre sale. I will check with the wife to see how she nailed that down.

Was there this past year. It rained a fair amount, but my house was really close by.

I saw most of the acts that I was interested in and the staggering pandemic of girls trying to look like Lanie Wilson......with their hats on backwards.

Coworker just bought pre-sale tickets for this. He went last year and raved about it.

Wrong emoji! Supposed to be thumbs up...

I've been the past two years. There aren't a ton of places to stay in Gtown and most of the hotels already hiked their rates up to over $400/night. The Sheraton is the nicest place there. We got an airbnb this year but it sounds like they have bumped their prices up too. Round Rock and Pflugerville aren't that far and you can uber. There's a ride share pickup/drop off at the front gate that runs pretty smooth.

If you are willing/able to drive. You can also stay in Salado and or Taylor.

Both have hotels & AirBnBs.

Ubers are going to be a tall order on the day of the concert though. People walk all the way to the town square to catch Ubers etc, thats a good 2 mile hike.

So who all is going?

I reserved parking and shuttle for Sunday, no idea what we're going to do on Saturday. I assume it's a mess getting in/out of Georgetown.

Worth it to bring chairs? Tarp?

Bring chairs, can't put up a tarp to stand under but you can have blankets for the ground.

Looking like the rain should end around noon on Saturday and just be muddy, windy and cool for the rest of the concert.

Yeah, I'm thinking small tarps on the ground for the potential mud.

I'll be there! My wife and daughter are looking forward to it, too. We'll walk over from our hotel. It's our first time, we also got VIP for better viewing.

Bring water boots!

There was a lot of rain last year. Poured during Cody Johnson. I was worried that the park would turn into a chili fest mud pit but it didn't. Grounds held up extremely well. I'd expect the grass to be a little wet this year. Im sure you'll find mud if you go looking for it but I wouldn't expect it.

You're absolutely correct, I couldn't believe how well that grass held up.

That is great to hear. I have memories of mud slides at Woodlands Pavilion.

There is probably not enough top soil on top of the limestone to make mud

I'm looking forward to this one, since it is very close by. The shuttle to Georgetown high school is a very short ride. Festival is run well. The lesser acts don't hold as much interest for me this year but Stapleton and B&D will be worth the ticket cost alone.

A lot of the businesses nearby sell parking spaces over the entire weekend. We parked at an auto shop directly across from the entrance last year.
