Anyone have one they want to get rid of?

He is 6 now but I'd expect this to be a gun he can grow into and not be completely chopped down.

Really looking at what's out there right now with no real make/model set - except semiauto and not pump.

Or any of y'all have experience with ordering one at a store and have recommendations?

benelli M2. I hunted with right-handed shotguns my entire life and when my Remington model 11 played out a few years ago this is what I bought. Worth every penny and I believe you can change out the stock for a shorter one until he grows into the regular one. I bought mine from Able Ammo in Huntsville. They can probably answer the stock question.

Lifelong left-handed shotgun enthusiast with a left-eye dominant son who shoots a standard semi-auto 20ga. We are active in our county 4H shotgun club.

I would personally not go with a lefty semi-auto right off the bat, particularly if it's not a life-long gun he will keep and use his entire life. Most kid guns end up being traded or sold/exchanged, so trying to re-sell a lefty semi will limit your resale options. If this is not an issue, then disregard.

Shooting right handed semi-autos poses no problems to a left handed/eye-dominant shooter. Eye protection should be worn regardless of where the shell ejects. There are actually some advantages of shooting a right handed (right side ejecting) semi-auto left handed, namely the ability to easily rock the gun on its side while in the left hand and easily drop a shell into the open chamber with the right. You would not think about this as a right handed shooter shooting right handed guns but it's quite helpful.

Most semi's have reversible triggers if you want to swap the trigger for a left handed shooter.

Certainly didn't know that last part. I assume it's the safety mechanism that is the primary switch.

Browning BPS Micro Midas. Have to find a used one but they're great guns.

I came to suggest a BPS but OP said no pumps. But this prompted another question….why doesn't anyone make a bottom eject auto?

I have some problem. My son is right handed but left eye dominant. He has been shooting a right handed 20g pump with no issues. Shot a 20g escort youth the other day and did well might look at those. 24in barrel and pretty light.

He shoots the 22 and BB gun left handed really well. Has shot his brothers 20 1100 well off a rest.

But no, not positive he is left eye dominant. He can switch hit in baseball but that doesn't mean a whole lot.

Oh sorry OP I didn't read thoroughly.

Good question…. If it can be done with a pump I'd think it could be done with a semi-auto and would be a popular feature.

Easy test for eye dominance, might have to do it a few times on a 6 yr old. Focus on an object in distance. Extend both arms so hands are in front of your face. But elbows fully extended, hands as far away from face as possible. Make a triangle opening w your two hands, centering your object in the opening. Slowly move hands to your face while focusing continuously on the object. The triangle opening will end up over your dominant eye.

There are a couple other ways to test for this but this is the easiest for young kids.

Just make sure if you get a right handed gun you swap the safety to the left side so he learns that from beginning.

I spent most of my shooting life with right handed shotgun with standard safety and it was really ackward to switch it on demand. When I finally got a lefty semi , I had to relearn the safety with it on the correct side. Muscle memory takes time to reprogram.

This! Confirm eye dominance and learn to shoot whichever hand his dominant eye is. Shotgun is totally different than rifle since you shoot with both eyes open. Its amazing how quickly cross dominant kids can learn to shoot with the opposite hand. He will thank you forever!
