Headed to Savannah and Hilton Head in the middle of March with in laws. How's the fishing around that time of year? Not sure if I have time, but plan on taking a fly rod in case I can sneak away to try and get to some water.

Obviously if it's a slower time of the year then I may just leave it home, but open to suggestions.

Also if anyone has any tips in Savannah or Hilton Head to check out regarding restaurants, things to do, etc. I'm all ears. Her family are all golfers so I'm sure we'll do some golfing as well.

wife and I went this past summer. We absolutely loved Savannah. Very laid back place.

IMO the Olde Pink House is a must to go eat at. Yes, it is somewhat touristy, but it's because it is so well established and old. The service was excellent, as well as the food. We had drinks beforehand downstairs in the tavern. To me it's a must if you've never been. Make reservations ASAP.

Another standout meal with The Public Kitchen and Bar. It is more casual compared to olde pink house but everything we got was excellent.

As far as things to do, I cant help with Hilton Head besides the golf, but in Savannah at least give yourself one full day to just stroll the downtown area, squares, forsyth park, etc. It's beautiful.

If you are going to be there for St. Patrick's Day, Savannah used to be fun for that. They have clamped down on it recently, but River Street is always fun.

It's a bit south of there, but I prefer St. Simons over Hilton Head. More rustic and local. Same for Tybee Island.

Edit: As far as fishing goes, I'm sure there's a charter out of Savanah. We have a family house down off the Sapelo River toward St. Simons but we fish off our dock or use our own boat. Great fishing.
