Howdy,
I'm growing pumpkins right now and have the svb under control. These aren't for eating so I'm using some strong pesticides. The vines have gotten so large it's getting difficult to spraying every leaf. The aphids are bad due to the spraying for the svb. I got lazy last weekend and I'm paying for it now. I was curious if malathion fogger like we use for mosquitos would be effective for aphids? I already sprayed a pyrethrin but I think I may hit these vines with the fogger twice a week between spraying with a pump sprayer to try and keep them down.

Sivanto is sytemic and will take care of your aphids. Not cheap at $300 per gallon, but you don't use but a little tiny bit per gallon. Pumpkins where I am west of san antonio won't survive the weather much less the bugs. LOL.

I'm using a systemic imidacloprid but I feel like it's not being taken up well. I may look into that product. Thanks

I have not had great luck with Imidacloprid either. But, I believe it needs to be used in sufficient quantities shortly after germination. Even so, I haven't had much luck with it when I do that. I typically get frustrated and go scorched earth with a double dose of Malathion from my ATV sprayer. Everything dies, but then you end up with a new hatch and more issues.

I planted four Celebrity Plus tomato plants for the fall garden. I am still picking tomatoes. On December 30th. In Round Rock. I was skeptical, but I've been very pleased with this variety for a fall tomato. Except for having to spray them with Daconil for some fungus pressure in early November, water and fertilizer has given me a crazy crop of fall tomatoes.

Our celebrities are still going strong as well in south Texas. Curious if they will power through this cold spell (high 30s) tonight.
