In the past, I've only really dropped live minnows under a slip float with the bobber stop bead/thread combo.

Want to try going after them on artificials - seen a lot of YouTube videos recommending the double jig rig.

With the Bass Pro Crappie Sale going on, I plan to load up on crappie gear and was curious what y'all have found success with.

I am using "hand tied" jigs with various weight jig heads ranging through 1/32, 1/16, and 1/8 oz. tied with both feathers and hair. Started out buying them but started tying my own. There is a wide variety commercially available, but I do enjoy the tying hobby. I occasionally use some crappie plastics as well, available from a place like bass pro shop, academy, or even walmart. They work, but in my experience, not as well as the tied ones. Get a variety of colors. Sometimes it seems to matter, and sometimes not.

Thanks Steve! Will definitely add some more "tied" stuff to the cart

Had a few of these in various colors: Crappie Magnet Pop-Eye Jig | Bass Pro Shops

Cart is more plastic heavy at the moment, might try to move some things around and get more stuff like the above.

I'd love to tie my own someday - hoping to clean/organize my garage soon and set up a bait making station. Fingers crossed!

If you google hand ties, you will get lots of leads. I have personally bought from a company called Slab Syndicate, https://sscrappiejigs.com/jigs/ . He is local to me and was recommended for the East Texas Area. The quality is good and seem to work really well. I copied his when I started tying. Lots of good colors, particularly Gray ghost, and anything with chartreuse tail. There are plenty of good you tube videos when you get ready to try tying your own.

In a pinch you gotta reach for that split-tail grub (straight, not curly).

I've been killing em for 30 years with a beetle spin or H&H spinner. If you find a hole, a 16' rod jigging a pink, white, or yellow grub on a lead head is money.

Just a heads up, Academy has 75% off clearance stuff right now (in store only) and the ones I've been in have a TON of crappie stuff.

I thought I just used a beetle spin and h&h cause I'm an old. Makes me feel better that someone else's uses them too!

Reach out to this guy. He lives on Lake Cypress Springs and specializes in making crappie jigs. Hot pink with feathers work very well. He only does business on Facebook.

Caught a limit of big crappie today on jigs. I use plastics....almost always have some white in them since that's the color of shad. I use 20lb yellow braid and a split shot about a 15 inches above the jig so you can see it on livescope better.

My son got me some hair jigs and some feather jigs a couple weeks ago but haven't tried them yet. Have heard they work great. But I do like the wiggle that a paddle or curly tail plastic makes.

I am catching them right now on standing timber 6-8ft along the edge of channels.
Monkey Milk and Chartreuse works well for me on any lake I have fished and is usually color I start out with.
