Have a browning a5 20g that was given to me. It won't eject reg 20g shells, I assume needs a softer spring, but in the meantime what shells are you guys shooting through it to get it to cycle? Have a clay shoot Saturday so no time for quick fix. Thanks.

I have to use high brass in my vintage A5 12 gauge

Have you tried running high-brass shells through it? My 1100 won't cycle most low brass loads, could be similar issue.
People think I'm an idiot or something, because all I do is cut lawns for a living.

I didn't think there really were high/low brass shells anymore. Shows what I know. My trust 12g pump will shoot anything Is is a specific velocity of higher? What am I looking for?

Are you talking about and old A5 or the newer version?

If it's the old classic, then there is a friction ring in there that needs to be adjusted for lighter loads.

Have you tried cleaning it? Had problems with a 16guage a5 not cycling and turns out it was insanely dirty.

Didn't seem too dirty but will take a look. Didn't know about the friction ring, I'll take a look at that this evening. It's a Belgium made so prob puts it from the 60s maybe?

Will definitely have the ring. I own a similar one, a Belgian "Magnum Twenty". Once adjusted for light loads it cycles pretty much everything.

Also check out videos from Art's gun shop in Missouri. Recommends a drop or two of motor oil where the friction ring slides on the tube.

Yeah the friction rings could be the issue. I replaced mine on my Belgian made 12ga pretty cheaply from Brownells. Even properly arranged for light loads, it really doesn't like very light loads for shooting clays

"High brass" 20s are typically 1 oz, like Remington Express/Winchester Super X
"Low brass" are 7/8 oz...

Changing the friction ring helps in my Sweet 16
