How long do you want to ignore this user?
Yea many have been chill and some head for the hills . I think part of my problem was s that not hearing them first I tend to get closer than I intend to because I can't hear them.

Not all rattlesnakes are aggressive. Most are super chill, and don't coil up until you mess with them. The older, the longer (usually) it takes to make them coil up. I stepped on one leading a hike in Austin. Lady screamed. I looked behind me. Snake keeps on slithering off of the road. It was a big one - probably 4-5'. They waited, and then walked around it. Found another one in some bluebonnets. Would have stepped on it had I not noticed it.

All of the ones I've ever encountered have been super chill and not aggressive at all.

Just think of all the ones you didn't see… they were ready to get ur arse with one step the wrong direction

We had quite a few every year on the ranch in the hill country. Some bad experiences, some not. My neighbors dog got bit by one in his barn in some lumber and dog died.
Had an Elk bull and a young elk calf bit but they were ok. Had an Addax cow get bit on the face but she was ok.
Trail riding we had a lady's horse get bit…. horse lived but the lady was injured when the horse threw her.
Thankfully I had snake boots on as I got bit opening a ranch gate one morning.
Our German Shepherd got bit on our car port as one was coiled up by my truck tire. He was ok eventually.
We encountered on an average of 12-15 rattlers per year on the ranch….along with 1-2 coral snakes a year.
We always had to be " rattlesnake conscious" all the time…everywhere on the ranch.
I learned to identify all the snakes we had on the ranch….lots of coach whips and rat snakes and hog nose … we didn't have copperheads and an a few cottonmouth down by the creek.
Non poisonous always got a free pass.
