My big, discount grill from Academy has had a nice run, but having replaced the burners twice I am looking to upgrade. Probably with a 3 or 4 burner. Explain to me like I'm 5 the benefits of the Genesis line of Spirit. From what I can tell both have the same warranty.

A side burner would be nice but isn't a must have.

ok, after consulting the google I think the Spirit 435 should do what I need it to. Anyone with personal experience?

Got the Spirit E-310 as a birthday/housewarming gift from my parents back in '21 when my wife and bought our first home. Still running strong.

Not sure on the differences between Genesis v Spirit - Genesis seems a bit more expensive from a quick glance at the Weber website, so I'm sure they have more features included with that line.

3 v 4 burners comes down to how often you cook for larger crowds - I'm mainly just cooking for 2 so three burners works fine for me - I often only run two, but I still manage fine when cooking for a larger gathering.

There are a few difference between Spirit and Genesis grills:

Size: The Weber Genesis is generally larger than the Weber Spirit. The Genesis models come in three or four burners and are usually wider and deeper than the Spirit models.

Cooking Grates: The Weber Genesis comes with stainless steel cooking grates, while the Weber Spirit has porcelain-enameled cast iron cooking grates. Stainless steel grates are generally more durable than cast iron grates and may be easier to clean.

Burners: The Weber Genesis has higher quality burners compared to the Weber Spirit, which are made of stainless steel and have higher BTU output.

Ignition System: The Weber Genesis comes with an electronic ignition system, while the Weber Spirit has a push-button ignition.

The II Series is desingned with the GS4 System:
GS4 includes upgraded stainless steel burners, flavorizer bars, advanced grease management system and an excellent Infinity ignition system. These 4 elements are key components to ensuring reliability every time you start the burners.
All Weber grills come with the ability to utilize iGrill 3 technology which allows you to monitor many aspects of your grill from the convenience of your phone.

I've had a Spirit for almost 15 years, it doesn't get cleaned as often as it should, the push ignition doesn't work anymore, but it fires right up every time.

No complaints from me.

I have a Genesis and my dad has a spirit. Both are good. My Genesis is bigger, gets hotter faster, and cooks a little more evenly. But it was more expensive. The bars, grates, and burners seem more heavy duty on Genesis.

Have had a three burner Genesis for the last 12 years or so. Cook on it a lot. Never had to replace anything but did put in new burners and flavourizer bars last year. The old ones were just too dirty.

Get a genesis. It's awesome. 10 yr warranty and great Weber service. I've had mine for 15 years and it still runs like new. I replaced burners, flavorizers around 9 yrs and 10 months, all free by calling into service for warranty coverage.

I had no idea they would cover that under warranty!
I bought my parts. Holy Moly.

Yessir. Almost all of the guts were 10 years on mine.
I called them about the burners, they said send pics and they would replace. Guy emailed back next day and said they are replacing all the burners, even though only 1 was rusted and he said the flavorizers look rusty and he was sending those too since warranty expired in 2 months to set me back up.

Opposite here. I have a Spirit 3 burner (with side burner & sear station). Dad has a Genesis 3 burner (with side burner & sear station). I feel mine puts out the same amount of heat, but since over a smaller grill area there's more heat per square inch. My sense is it gets hotter faster and is more efficient too.

The Spirit is perfect size for 80% of our household cooking needs (5).

This is why I'm going with Weber. Figure it's worth it in the long run.
To be fair, my outdoor gourmet grill from Academy has held up well, outside of having to replace the burners twice.

Had a Genesis for over 20 years and it basically wore out. (Gunny….dont worry you are not the only one who didn't know about the replacement parts. I found that after about 15 years)

Replaced it with the 4 Burner Summit (bday gift from Wifi). Whoa! That mother gets hot fast…has the side burner, which is nice, but haven't used much. Rotisserie too, but it is a lot of work. The amount of grill space is awesome, and the heat is consistent all over. It wasn't cheap, but it is awesome.

Whatever you get, buy a good grill cover. It will be worth every penny.

Good luck with whatever you pick. You can't go wrong with a Weber.

I bought a Genesis S-435 4-burner Stainless Steel with side burner last year and I love it. It's a natural gas grill, so I stubbed out a 1/2" connection for the grill and 3/4" connection for my backup Nat Gas generator.

The grill heats up fast and has a ton of space. The sear burner station is sweet for steaks. We regularly use the entire thing for our family of five, including two teens and a 12 y/o boy who eats everything in sight. I haven't ever used the side burner, but I feel like I had to get that for some reason. I highly recommend it.

Pick which one you like and look on FB Marketplace. Last year I picked up a 3-burner Genesis in nearly new condition for $125. I also picked up a 2-burner Spirit for my daughter's place at A&M for free. Just make sure the control knobs are on the front, not the side.

Always go Weber for gas!

My dad gave me his Weber (already old by then) after we bought our first house. I called Weber to get some parts for the rehab. Couldn't even find the model/serial # on it. The very patient black woman on the end of the line had me describe the grill and asked a few questions - "Lawdy, that's an old one. I'm gonna send you the parts you are ordering and then these other ones for free because you are going to end up needing them."

I'll never have anything but Weber because of that simple interaction.

I love my Weber, but I really love my Coyote.

But it's a bit of a stretch to put them in the same category.

My Weber may be the best bang for the buck, but my Coyote is really nice.

I have the Spirit, several years ago, my grates were getting pitted. So, I ordered the stainless steel grates and "Flavorizer" bars to replace the originals. I ordered the wrong ones. I emailed Weber support, they responded in less than 5 minutes and asked me to send photos of the original parts and a photo of the model/SN tag.

I quickly replied. Again, in less than 5 minutes, Weber responded. Said that the parts are warrantied, upgraded to the stainless, and credited my card for the items I ordered wrong.

The wrong parts were eventually shipped to another OB poster.

In short, their customer service is phenomenal.

When I decide to replace my current grill, there is no doubt that I'll get another Weber.

Genesis here. 11 years old no issues other than the flavorizer bars mentioned above and i forgot to do anything about before my warranty was up (and i can't find my proof of purchase either). flavorizer bars definitely had a good 9-10 year run for sure. i think they are about $60 bucks to replace so will be doing that in the near future.

very happy with it. would buy again if I needed to although the price is harder to swallow 11 years of inflation latter.

I've had my Weber Genesis for somewhere between 15 and 20 years. Always keep it in the garage and use it weekly. I replaced the burners and flavorisers last year and that's all I've done to it in the entire time I've had it other than cleaning the grease trap and pan. Been a great investment.

I don't know the answer to that. I just don't think there are enough parts that go bad during the actual warranty period that it matters financially. Also, the amount of money you save buying off FB Marketplace will cover any parts you ever need to buy.

I'm on my second Genesis 3(4 total including the sear) burner. First one I had lasted 12 yrs in the Greater Houston area. I actually sold it on marketplace for $200. It definitely needed burners. Proof that they do have some resale value.

Overall, I'm happy w/ the latest generation.

However, the top grate isn't stainless and has already rusted after a couple of years. I have the 2/3 griddle accessory and am surprised how much I've used it. However, the supporting grate for it is also not stainless and is beginning to rust.

I have the side burner and do use it quite often especially in the summer. Works great for a large pot of beans and my large cast dutch oven I use mostly as a fryer. However, heat control is disappointing. You can't turn it low enough w/o the burner going out.

I would prefer if they had just used the same burner/valve/knob combo for the sear burner. You can turn it down. But if you turn the knob to the low setting, it will flame out.

I am also disappointed w/ the bottle hanger on the new grill. Bottles w/ the round hole v oval hole fall off.

"Taste the meat, not the heat."

I'm not opposed to charcoal, wood, dried horse dung - anything that burns enough to allow me to cook on it.
I also want to be able to get home from work, light it up, and go. And sometimes I let my wife cook, so gas is better for her.

But thanks for answering something I didn't ask.

8 years ago, or so, bought a used Genesis 330 that was in like new condition. Was covered (he built an outdoor kitchen) and looked like it had 5 cooks on it. Side burner has never worked.

A few weekends ago i replaced the electric start, flavorizer bars, and whatever the lower stainless grease things are. Gas line isn't kinked or damaged so either a bad regulator or maybe a blocked tube to the burner.

Some lower I side rust at the bottom of the cabinet and the gas burners are still perfect.

I just have to figure out how to get the side burner working. It's been driving me nuts.

Id buy another Gensis without a 2nd thought, and I'd wait to find a used one for a fraction of the price.

Genesis is sturdier, better interior construction. Mine is a work horse and bought in 2016. But I'm basically a walking billboard for Weber. I have a Genesis, Slate, and Searwood all sitting on the porch. And I use all three.

Ditch the "flavorizor" bars that sit above the burners and buy SS replacements of Amazon.

All the Weber bars do it catch on fire.
