The County judge and the clerks couldn't have been more helpful. He saw me off schedule and I was out of there by noon with the orders to send in to the DPS and my temporary occupation license. He out no restrictions on it as long as I use a log book and don't 'drive to the club.' All 254 counties.
He also had no answer for anything the DPS does. I asked him why it went from two years to 90 days suspended and he said he had no idea. An attorney that was listening basically said the DPS do what they do.
Anyway big step forward thanks to some reasonable minds.
I haven't had quite the horror stories here thankfully, but one thing I have learned in my time on this earth is that it is incredibly common for the various branches of our government to have no real idea how each other's work, even though they ostensibly are supposed to work together.
So we sit in this incredibly complex web of bureaucracy and administration where the left arm has no idea what the right arm is doing or why and both arms actions are affecting you nonetheless. Often at odds with one another. I also feel the frustration mirrored here on this thread on the whole topic and have quite a bit of second hand experience with friends and family getting screwed in similar ways. Law abiding citizen has a small slip up that they truly try to fix and quickly and have to jump through a series of increasingly smaller and smaller rings until they get stuck and then get hammered in the rear because they got stuck and have no idea how to get through and apparently no one does either at the working levels of government.
I will also say that in my experience, local politicians can be JUST as scummy as our federal ones. Maybe even more so.
Just had to add to the rant.
