Prayers going up but have faith. Back in 2016 our vet told us that about our lab. He lived pretty happy for three more years.

Man...5 years is not enough. Coming up on 3 years in a couple weeks with our rescue. Can't imagine only 2 more.

Lost my 13-year-old English Bulldog Jan 2. Hardest decision ever.

As great as he was, I doubt I ever get another dog. Don't want to experience that kind of pain again.

He would not want you to do that. I have had the same thoughts but realize the love and happiness they bring is worth the pain.

Agree Gunny. It's tough to say good-bye, but many pups aren't fortunate enough to have owners who give a damn. Daisy was rescued from the streets of Houston. As much as I'm hurting, she wouldn't have made it 5 years on the streets.

It sucks. But the joy they bring is worth the pain. I love my pups. I give them the best. And they've rescued me more than they know.

Sorry man. It really hurts to lose our best buddies. I lost my chocolate lab a few months ago and swore I'd never have another dog because of the pain. Still not over him, but realize the years of joy they give us is just something you can't turn your back on. So in my old age I've got another chocolate coming in 2 weeks. If I can survive the first year, I should be set for whatever I have left. Chin up bud, I'm thinking about you.

Yeah his name will be Woody and he'll be my fourth lab. He's gonna be a partner, not a hunter (maybe a fetcher)

I love fireworks. I'm upping the fireworks budget for Daisy. Boomtown July 4th in my Nebraska hometown. Will post vid. Fireworks are outdoors.

Normally we'd wait a bit before adopting another Beagle but rescue groups are in crisis. Thus, we're in process of adopting this girl.

Take comfort in knowing that it was not a long painful battle for your dog. It might have been abrupt for you but trust me, the guilt of letting it go too long can also eat you up. I also agree that another pup never replaces the last one but it definitely helps the hole in your heart left heal.

Puppy breath has always helped me in times like this. I'm currently with my 5th and 6th dogs. All have been rescues.

That Beagle looks like a good one!!!
