I'm planning a fishing trip for after Christmas. I live in East Tennessee; I plan to go somewhere in the area of Western Florida to Alabama or North Florida up to Charleston.

Ideally, I'd like to get out in the bay on a boat somewhere as inexpensively as possible, but I'm equally fine fishing from a pier.

I'll probably camp wherever I go.

Anybody have any ideas? I'd like to ideally catch some red drum, black drum, and specs.
I know a lot about a little, and a little about a lot.

If you end up on the Texas upper coast I can get yall out on the boat out of Galveston or Freeport.

I'll be nowhere near there. I'm looking for someplace in the eastern Gulf coast.

I think I've settled on Tallahassee Florida. I have a friend who lives there, so wouldn't have to pay for a hotel. Anybody know who any good charters out of Tallahassee?

I don't know about guides out of there or just south of there right along the water. It's not very populated and has a lot of state forest around there. We've fished out of Tampa or over towards Apalachicola.

We have fished that time of year out of Tampa and it was a great time for grouper. Only had to go about 5-7 miles off and fish the rocks. That was a few years ago and like everywhere they are always adjusting the season. Whomever you find, you might want to inquire about going after grouper

had a good time going inshore out of Amelia Island two years ago. Camping on Cumberland Island was a bucketlist trip to tack on as well

Can't help you with the Florida deal. Best redfish is in Venice Louisiana. Specs there also. Or you can offshore there for Tuna. Everyone should go to Venice at least one time and fish.

Boat racing is like a beautiful woman.......expensive, high maintenance, but well worth the fun!
