Have some Smart Wool and I swear they are 15 years old and are my favorite running/walking socks no matter the temp.

Please update when you get the alpaca socks. I've heard both that they do well with moisture, and that they hold moisture.

After wearing these Paka branded alpaca socks off and on for 2 months....I'm still not sure. I find they do better with moisture than cotton by a large margin. They may retain some moisture but I have not found them to be damp and clingy on the foot like cotton. Although they don't get rid of moisture as well as wool.

I can't yet speak to long term durability.

Overall the two pair I have are thinner than my normal darn tough socks that are my favorites. I still prefer the wool.....but that might be because I have worn nothing but Darn Tough for over 15 years and I typically go for a slightly thicker sock because it works with my shoes I usually wear.
