This thing(s) showed up after the floods in March. (Dry creek turned into a river). Entire pasture covered from upstream displacement. What is it and how to kill?

I forget the name but it grows everywhere around here. This year is particularly bad due to all the summertime rain. You seeing it, likely has more to do with conditions being right than new seed. It's usually dieing off by now. Best thing you could do is probably mow it before it finishes seeding. Or 24D would probably kill it but might have to do a follow up.

One of those years the Brazos flooded badly from north to south, we had tons of devil's claw show up in fields down in Brazoria county. And a bunch of other weeds that were seldom seen.

This was relevant to me also. Have this as said, growing in a lower area of a field. Sprayed it this year with 24-d, same rate I use that kills cockleburs, ragweeds, and others, burned the leaves a bit, but didn't kill it.

1-1.5 oz sharpen and 1% MSO

You have to spray early, but you need dicamba in the mix to do any good with a hormone. Rifle D (generic weed master) is decent if timing is right. Best to mix with metsulfuron if you don't have bahia grass to worry about killing,
