Looking for recommendations in Western Brazoria county just north of Old Ocean for the following work.

I've got an access easement with no current road base, essentially a 60' wide cleared lane.
I am wanting to bring in a road base(crushed concrete or something similar) for a 300 yard long section, 8 to 10' wide and around 4-6 inches thick.
Would need it spread on location at this time.

Probably TMI but wanted to give as much info as possible to hopefully get best recommendations.

Thanks!

Crushed concrete can have metal pieces in it. Rebar, old concrete wire, nails, and every other form of metal you can think of. We had this happen at the ranch after letting a municipal agency use our farm road to access their project on the condition they rocked the road afterwards. The contractor brought in different large magnets twice and raked the road both times. Everything was blamed on the contractor. Who we had No relation or agreement with.
We still find metal pieces 8 years later. They stopped returning calls after the project was finished…

No more crushed concrete for me.

Matagorda Materials out of Bay City would be my first call.

Jutice Sand might be another option, not sure if they have base or not though.

I would suggest TXDOT base over crushed concrete, it will be a better long term road material than just crushed concrete. You want the fines to help cohesion. Top it with 2" of crushed concrete or limestone if you want a cleaner look.

Thanks for the names, I'll reach out and see what they have.
Also thanks for the TXDOT base point, as I've gotten older I really try and do things right the first time even if take a bit longer or more $$$

Also give Kevin Kauk a call, he has a materials pit and does grade/dozer work.

Lesson learned on dealing with government employees/ agency. Was busy and didn't get a good enough written agreement. They will never have access again.
Didn't see it mentioned, but I've watched miles of highway built from scratch thru farm and pastureland recently. The first step needs to be soil tests and putting out the recommended lime stabilization material after crowning the roadbed area.
Pictured is the big magnet they used to get lots of the metal out of the crushed concrete after it was ripped with a dozer. This was done twice but there's still plenty that comes up when the road is grated. Pretty sure the contractor/ and or agency bought the cheaper material which was not properly screened at the crushing plant.

Vernor doesnt have anything close to Old Ocean, doubt they will be competitive on price with trucking. Same with Sorrell.

I can tell you the same horror story on crushed concrete. One of the worst road mistakes I ever made. Discount tire made lots of money off of me for about a year. My family and I walked the roads for about a year removing the metal that was included with the concrete.

Try Southern Gulf Solutions out of Brazoria, Stark Services out of Sweeny, or Crisp Materials.

The crushed concrete must be hit or miss based on vendor. I've used it at my home as well as at my work. We do find the occasional piece of metal but for the most part, its been great for road base. Not nearly as dusty as caliche or limestone. We've also had good luck going over the top of it with milled asphalt.

Milled asphalt is my favorite when I can find it.

When I lived in brazoria county our driveway was crushed oyster shells that had been dredged up from somewhere along the coast.

As a kid I found an old .50 cal bullet in the driveway. Must have been target practice from WWII.

Had good luck with crushed concrete at a past company. Never had the metal problem yall are taking about, but I could see this happening. There should be a magnet on the concrete crusher and it has to be cleaned off periodically. I could see that being an issue.

I've used both crushed concrete and crushed limestone road base in McLennan County.

Our concrete crusher does a good job removing all the metal from the finished product, so that hasn't been a concern here.

But, I prefer crushed limestone for driveways and parking areas because it both packs and binds (after getting wet), while the crushed concrete will just pack. It doesn't bind.

A1-Base is also my go to since it has natural binder in it.
