I've got a 6 month old lab that simply will not let me trim his nails. Anybody have a good rec for this and grooming. I actually have no problem with bathing him, I just can't get the nails done (without blood). Thanks.

Might try the nail grinders if you want to try to keep doing it yourself, that's what I always used when I had labs. They didn't mind at all.

Yeah I bought the dremel pet grinder. No go. Yet.

I have a Blue Heeler that is absolutely psycho about touching her paws. So much so that she's hurt herself and my wife trying to hold her down while I trim.

These days I just wait until they're longer than they should be and take her to the vet because she has to be completely sedated.

It sucks because it's expensive. I wish there was a way to do it at home.

We had one that wouldn't let us touch his nails. Lots of walks on concrete did the job.

you could try and figure out of one of the techs at your vets office would help off hours or something.

We had a lab that we started wrapping in a blanket real tight, leaving one leg out a a time. The blanket would hold her still and tight while we worked on the one paw. Then rotate. Without the blanket, you couldn't even touch a foot.

Well the best I can do is 1 or2 nails at a time then try again in a few hours. It just takes forever to get all 4 paws done. Maybe when he's a little older.

We use groom bar on Hwy 30. We fought with the same issues. They are fairly cheap and quick.

I've heard of people doing exercises/drills/training(not sure what the right term is) to get their dogs more ok with paw touching. Worth some googling at least. This would obviously be a long term training project if it works.

America's Country Store & Pet Resort has very experienced groomers. We send our Aussies there alot.

Yeah I heard that a while back so I've been kind of massaging each paw when he's calm. It does help a little.
