Headed to Abaco in the Bahames to stay st a friend's house. He just moved there and he's not a fisherman, but he's starting to learn due to his new locale. I'm going to visit in early November and we want to fish. Need ideas for any type of fishing in the area. Bonefish, permit, grouper on the reefs, trolling for billfish, etc. Any advice appreciated. I'm not a bigger fisherman either. But If I'd just moved there and was wanting to get into it I'd focus on something I could use to educate myself and maybe replicate to some degree.

On the other hand, if my buddy is flying in to hang out and have fun, I might target whatever is available that can't be done as well anywhere else. Or whatever is most in season.

Not sure where you are staying in Abaco, but bonefish can be world class. Has been 3 years, but we stayed close to Cherokee/Little Harbour and fished two days on the flats. Caught a bunch of fish both days, first on spinning gear and the on fly (which even as novice fly fishermen, we were able to do).

Some larger outfitters around, but we fished with JR (link below). He was quite a character, and a good guide.

From what I gather, offshore can be good at times as well, but more weather dependent (it can get rough on the Atlantic side).

A guide may be an option, but we have a boat and there's some gear there, though I'm unsure about what gear is available and it's condition.

I'm a sightcaster by trade, so bonefish sounds like the easy option. I've done this before in Mexico and Belize so probably just need to find some flats and get busy.

May hire a guide for an offshore trip as looking at the depth charts, it doesn't appear you need to travel far to get into some good trolling areas.
