Does anyone have any timed trough style protein feeders they may be looking to unload
AND does anyone have a hog panels they may be looking to part ways with as well?

I was hoping that someone might have some that they're just not using, and are looking to sell

I can't find a video that shows these in operation.

Does the protein stay in the pan or does it fall to the ground when these go off? I'm assuming it stays up off the ground in the pan but it's hard to tell.

You might check with the folks at Texas Wildlife Supply. I have used a lot of timed bulk feeders and found them to be the best built for maintenance and longevity.
Reason I'm suggesting you call them is they make interchangeable heads so their bulk style feeders can be free choice, spin cast, or timed bulk simply by changing the heads out with four bolts.
It's been a while since I've been to their plant in Brady but the last time I was there they had some trade in units sitting in their yard. They refurbished them and then a person could buy whatever head they preferred for what type feeder style they wanted.
I purchased quite a few of those and put different heads on them as I desired . The ranch is still using them to this day.
I don't know if they still do those or not but it was a bargain back then.
I have a few of them up here when we moved. I'll try to go get a pic and post it so you can see what I'm talking about.

It's hard to see in the picture but there is about a four inch upward slanted lip that keeps the pellets from falling out of the troughs. When it feeds a few pellets may fall out but it's very minimal.

Yes I like the ones that feed into a trough w a lip, the old Lamco feeders were awesome!!

Doc,

I put a couple of the All Seasons at the house and they work fine.

Lamco are good feeders but their bulk timed feeders have no protection of the pellets from the weather at all.
If you have a rainy misty day the pellets become mush sitting in the open troughs. I loved their feeders but didn't like that aspect about them.
The large long troughs that ASF has is also very susceptible to catching lots of water in a blowing rain.

I hunt in S Texas, rain is rarely an issue!

How frequently does a protein feeder need to be re-filled? I'm looking at purchasing one but trying to factor in how often I would need to visit to top it off. Does a 300 lb timed feeder buy me a couple of months?

I have a couple of ~300 lb free choice protien feeders at my place. Sometimes between deer, coons and pigs i have to fill up in a month, sometimes it's 2 months.

If you can keep pigs away from it, 2 months is reasonable assuming you don't have a massive herd of white tail going at it. Also, protein gets hit harder from Feb through Sept than it does October through Jan. Does go hard on protein early in the year, along the coast where I am with an earlier rut the bucks hit it pretty hard in August and Sept through early Oct as they are rutting.

Depends on how many animals you have in your deer population and eating out of them. It also will be dependent on your range conditions and how good the browse and forbes availability is on your property for your deer. If its overgrazed or poor range conditions they will eat at the protein feeders more often to get nutrition. Nothing can really replace proper nutrition from mother nature. Bulk protein feeders are supposed to be for "supplemental feeding".

You will also find that the dominant animals in your resident deer herd will dominate your feeders. Oftentimes non dominant animals don't get a chance to eat as much as the dominant animals.

I normally have cotton seed and protein feeders in my pens. I try and release 15-18 lbs protein daily, and refill monthly.
If I did free choice protein they'd eat 1 ton a month. We have a heavy deer density.

This is the way.
Timed protein feeders allow you to control your feeding amounts and also allows you to change up times so that non dominant deer can have somewhat of an opportunity to get some protein.
Deer are also kinda like humans in that some are truly gluttons at free choice feeders and will overeat if allowed.
