Hot water in outdoor kitchen

Anyone have a hot water heater in your outdoor kitchen. I tore my deck out and with it the kitchen. We had concrete poured and acid stained and I am in the process of building the kitchen back. I know some newer homes have hot water access from the house but not mine. In the past I have used the tankless portable shower type and I am on my third one because I suck at draining them before a freeze. I am planning on installing an air fitting to aid in purging water to alleviate that problem. I am considering an RV style tankless propane water heater (pricy) or a 110volt point of use tankless heater. I am worried about the small electric's ability to fill my restaurant style three compartment sink hotter than luke warm. Thoughts?

How much hot water do you need? Electric water boiler like for teas/coffee could be a cheap option to get you a gallon at a time.

If you have electricity just add a tankless water heater. They make them with small capacity for a single outlet.

Do you have 16 inches of height to run a small tank ?

I need enough to fill one side of this sink with reasonably hot water. I have a couple of 1.75 L kettles. I also have a turkey fryer and a kettle made from a beer keg but I really just want to turn the faucet on. As far as the 2000watt small tank style JP76 linked, I just don't have the power for that. I have a single 20 amp circuit out there that runs lights, plugs, ceiling fans. 2000watts is about 17amps. I put a small 2.5gallon 1500 watt tanked heater in the bathroom of my garage and put it on a separate circuit.

Run new power to the water heater since you are in the framing stage (unless you are maxed out on your breaker box). If you are building on an exterior wall of your house, is it possible to run a new pex line to your sink from your existing hot water line?? You will be happier than with the small tankless systems, they do not produce enough hot water for your needs. I tried to use a under sink instant water heather in my outdoor kitchen and after two tanks crapped out in 5 years I decided to just abandon the idea.

How about 12 amps ?

Ceiling fans don't pull much at all maybe 1-1.5 amps. Convert all the lights to led to shed amp draw on them.

Hmmm… 12 amps might be doable. I could even put it on a 15 amp switch so it's only on when I needed it. I wish someone would have info on the RV propane water heaters.

ETA:Here is the old kitchen just put back in place. I finished tiling the bar front this morning.

I would look harder at running a hot water line from the house.

If the water is already hot why would you heat it?

Here's ours. Flat top, grill all natural gas, sink with hot and cold and garbage disposal, full size fridge and granite counters. We also have a 9x7 freestanding bar and a commercial hood for smoke evacuation.

I put a small electric water heater in the back corner of the OD kitchen under the concrete counter top . We only have one sink so it works fine for us but might be a bit small for your needs. Our ODK is a good 50 feet behind the house so I had to run electric and water to it.

Just getchu a propane burner below the sink! That stainless will heat up in no time and you'll have all the how water you need!

We have a small electric on demand like the one above in our office for 3 sinks. Works great for washing hands and coffee mugs or a few things. Never tried to see how much hot water it will make before it stops

3000 watts on 110v is 25 amps

Op only has a 20 amp breaker and probably only 12/2 wire

10/2 would be needed to support 30 amps on a 110 circuit

From the specs of the listing

"connected to trip switches of over 32a for use"

we have an electric Bosch water tank below ours. Plugs to regular 110v... I think it's 3gallons, maybe 5.

Thanks for all of the responses. I decided to go with a 1500 watt 6.5 gallon tank style water heater. I went with the same brand as the little 2.5 gallon one I have for the sink in my garage. It will reside temporarily in that cedar cabinet in the pic above until i can get my base cabinet built.. I have a 20 amp switch plug combo that I will use to operate it so its not on all of the time. I already have it set up with an air fitting to blow the lines when a freeze is expected. Not sure if I can blow the whole tank out or not, guess we will see.
