Headed North to try and catch some cooler weather and find some wild pheasant and quail.

Left the office about 1030, put in a half day and hit the road.
Maggie is 10, she's spent 4-8 days every year chasing birds in NE, KS, SD

Man I am jealous! I have been talking about pheasant and quail hunt forever.



This has been the only wild pheasant I have ever seen, and it was in Finland.

Pulled a fast one on yall. Actually went to Colorado, I already had the license from buying PPs so figured why not. Went in blind ever been to the area. Just e scouted.

Turns out it worked. Too well. Passed on a few birds to make the day longer and to get the final bird over Maggie

Quail are not common around here, it was work to find 1 covey on public. It had 8 birds in it. I winged the one the 1st pop. Then the brown dog had such a solid point and flush on a single, I couldn't not reward her, so I bagged 1.

The weather is better today but it is a lot slower. Only 2 roosters and 2 quail. Bagged 1 rooster put a quail on the ground but never found it. Never wouod have guessed there would have been quail in that cover

Had a limit by 1030 MST. Its getting warm truck is reading 61F. Its been a good trip, I decided to pull the plug and head home. There were a lot of hunters out today, possession limit is 9, though about heading to Nebraska to chase quail and pheasant, with the heat and rain forcast I decided not to.
