Best story ever told begins in Luke in the Bible. If you don't know where it is, read until you find it - whatever you read besides this story will only add to it.

I went to Panama for Operation Just Cause in 1989. We were in David when Noriega was captured and the locals were feeling pretty celebratory. A kid ran up to me and touched my gloves hanging from my web gear and said "mine" so I smiled and gave them to him. A few minutes later he returned with his mom who said thank you and watched as he gave me a gift. Fruit cake. I smiled and gave the kid a big hug and told him thanks. We had one guy in our platoon that loved that crap so I gave it to him.
