UPS sucks but not sure if it's outdoors or indoors.

I have two different packages that were shipped before Christmas, on 12/17 and the other on 12/23. The 12/17 package is a Grunden fishing backpack that shipped from Colorado. Tracking indicates it was received by UPS on 12/17 and there are no further updates since. The shipper has filed a claim but no updates yet.

The 12/23 package is the Abel reel I won from Patagonia River Guides. The shipper sent me a photo of his receipt with the tracking number but UPS tracking doesn't indicate that they received it. It shipped from Bozeman. However, when I've called UPS, twice they've told me that they have it and it will arrive on 1/2.

I don't understand how they could be so screwed up.

I have a similar problem. Sent my nephew a package via 2nd Day Air last week and they said it was to be delivered on the 23rd. It just kept saying " label created" for two days then said it would not be delivered until tomorrow the 27th. Now I just checked and it says won't be delivered till the 30th. I took the package myself to our UPS place in town.
Surprisingly my uncle sent me three packages by Priority mail by USPS and they got to me Christmas Eve ….actually a day early.
Hope you get it figured out.

Rural carrier ISPS here and horrible. Apparently they not required to exit vehicle so never bring signature required stuff to the door. Also frequently leave packages on top of mailbox out by road which typically end up on road.

This is a bad time to ship anything from anywhere really. It may take considerably longer. I wouldn't say it's screwed up. 200 Million people are shipping things all over the place right now. No matter what, make SURE you insure the package for it's value this time of year.

I recently had some not great experiences with UPS as far as packages arriving when estimated and tracking updates. However, everything arrived and I chalked it up to the busy holiday season.

Same here. Has been very dependable lately. And our rural mail delivery lady will even bring our mail up to our house if we leave our gate open….and it's 1/2 mile from gate to house. Can't ask for much better than that.
Our Fed Ex guy will do the same.

We stopped using UPS for trade shows because they always were late and/or lost something.

My local Nextdoor is absolutely full of posts about packages from FedEx, UPS, USPS and Amazon being sent to the wrong address. The ones with proof of delivery pics are of the wrong house.
It happened to me last week. I was expecting a $3500 thermal in UPS. I was at work and told my wife to be sure and listen for the door because I was expecting a package that required a signature for delivery. I tracked it around 2pm and it said delivered. Odd, because I never saw UPS on my security cameras. Texted the wife and she said no package delivered other than some Amazon stuff she was expecting. Later that afternoon a lady from couple blocks down the street rang our doorbell. Gave my wife the package and said she found it lying on her doorstep when she got home from work.

ThIs has nothing to do with the reliability, but cost-wise this is what the seasoned employee at my UPS told me. 'If it's smaller than a shoebox, take it to the post office. If it's larger, bring it here.'

FedEx is significantly worse than UPS or USPS.

FedEx has lost multiple packages for me.

Call their complaint number and also make an online complaint, I had issues when the contract carrier changed a couple of years ago and they just started leaving oversize notices in my box without trying to deliver the package. Came to a head one day when I was standing by the box when the carrier pulled up and handed me an oversized notice. When I asked where my package was she said it was back at the post office.
I did some checking and found that postal regulations require the carrier to deliver oversize packages to the front porch if the driveway is less than 1/2 mile and passable. I did both of the above complaint scenarios and got callbacks from an complaint response staffer and the temporary local postmaster who came out and inspected my driveway and declared it met standards for porch delivery. Haven't had too many issues with local delivery since but have had packages take the scenic route around Texas.
Moral of this tldnr is be the squeaky wheel don't put up with subpar service!

This! I've never had any particular problem with UPS, but Fedex has mis-shipped several items for me, high dollar stuff too. 5000 dollar locating system for my boring rig, sent to the other side of the county. Fortunately, the person it went to was a neighbor to a niece , and it eventually made it to me. Another was tossed out at the gate of a , fortunately for me, honest man who took the time to find my address on the package and bring it to me.

Latest news is UPS located the Grunden backpack and it will arrive in Monday.

I spoke with someone at UPS yesterday and was told the reel will arrive on Friday, 1/2 even though the tracking still days they haven't received the reel to ship.

The miracle here is that you talked to a person that was able to help find it. Over the last 20 years of living rural, I have to make friends with my UPS drivers who give me their cells and will pass local hub manager cells to me. Otherwise, you get a call center and they have historically been useless.

We built a house about a year ago and had so much hell as far as addressing and getting mail service and package delivery. Our place is rural. Got the actual address like we were supposed to, didn't get mail for like three weeks. We moved prior to selling our other house so still got mail at the other place during all this. Often, as we made address changes, the new address could not be found in the USPS system so the address change could not be made. We would just have stuff shipped to the old house since we were over there nearly every day anyway. I'd mail myself an empty envelope from another address to see if it would arrive at the new address.

Numerous calls to the USPS, both national number and local number did not help. Our Postmaster is a DEI hire and has a big attitude. Additionally, the GPS for this area has a huge glitch in it. Our property is located where the Atascocita Trail once ran. There is a large patch of timber that shows up on the GPS as "Atascocita" (not to be confused with the area over on FM 1960/Lake Houston). There is also a street in a subdivision about two or three miles from us called "Atascocita Drive". We would get packages delivered to us that were addressed to people on Atascocita Drive, had pizzas left in one of the rocking chairs on the front porch three different times.

Our house sits about 550 feet off the farm to market road and I would see a delivery van or truck coming. They would have a package for someone on our road, but a couple of miles away. Everyone has the three or four digit number on their mailbox or on the fence/gate in front of their property but they would ask if the package was ours. A lot of that issue was compounded by contract delivery people who speak little or no English.

After a year, it is not as bad as it was, though deliveries are attempted that are not ours, two or three times a month.

When we addressed ours for the first time, Amazon's would deliver to the abandoned gate 1 mile away. Literally a rusty gate that hasn't been opened in decades, overgrown with brush. Amazon would say "delivered" and it would be a photo of a box dropped in waist high grass near the rusty gate. It was pretty hilarious until they just started saying "meh, undeliverable"…..

I think the shipping industry has a high level of DGAF.

I think you are right.

And funny how it has changed. For around 8 years, we had the best UPS service at my office in town. There was this tiny little woman who got to be somewhat friends with my mom due to daily deliveries where she worked. Surnames being the same, she asked how we were related. Then she became our buddy, lol. Her route was such that her coffee needed to come out of her system about the time she was at my office and she asked if she could use the restroom and I said yeah, just put a quarter on the back of the toilet, lol. After that, she never asked. She would leave or package or packages, or just stop to go, walk in and head to the restroom.

Then we got a guy after she retired, he was a big duck hunter and I had a lot of duck hunting things in the office. We always got caught up on our season successes when he made a delivery.

The thing about these two is that they knew me and my schedule and if they had something for the office and we were not there, they knew where my house was and would deliver it there, and the same way if there was nobody home, they would drop it by the office. That doesn't happen any more.

I'm still waiting on a gift for my wife. Has been in FedEx possession since 12/16. Was supposed to have been delivered 12/19. Now delivery has changed to Monday.

We have had a terrible experience with delivery services over the last 3-4 months. At least 4 lost packages not including the one that is "in transit "
