I inherited my great grandfather's .22wrf model 1890. I have done a little rabbit and squirrel hunting with it recently, but I can not figure out how to unload the last round with out firing it.
I thought I had it figured out, by squeezing the trigger while still holding on to the hammer, but it seems like that only works some of the time. Anyone know how to unload it correctly?

Is that just a pump 22?

When the hammer is back, with the breech closed, and totally locked as you know, push the firing pin in with your finger (it is exposed with the hammer back) and then while holding that pushed in, pull 'pump' slide back to extract the cartridge. That should disengage the locked breech without firing. Does that work?

This worked, thank you! I did not realize I could manually push the firing pin in
