Typically I have found and heard from others, that if you are new in the system it takes a little bit longer. My first one took a little over a month, second was a week. (Correct me if I'm wrong here OB)

First one took 3 weeks (trust) using Silencer Shop.

Has anyone ever been questioned about this trust business? I don't even know who would ask. Atf? Game warden? Somebody at the shooting range? I can see when you first purchase, and maybe if you tried to sell it, but as far as regular use, I don't see someone 'not on the trust' being caught using a suppressor. But, I am not a range guy, so that is why I am asking.

It is my understanding that only a federal game warden or other fed leo can ask to see your paperwork on your can. Texas Game Wardens have no jurisdiction over suppressors. That being said, if I was ever asked by a TGW, I would probably show it to him anyway. I have never been asked. I have not seen a GW while hunting in probably close to 20 years. Fishing is another story.

I don't hunt normally hunt on Federal lands so I am not to worried about it.

So the greatest civilization is one where all citizens are equally armed and can only be persuaded, never forced. It removes force from the equation... and that's why carrying a gun is a civilized act.

The first of many. Congratulations

I remember my first suppressor. A Dead Air Nomad .30 cal. I was going to keymo all of my rifles and this would be the only one I would ever need. Now I have 4. For some reason buying suppressors is more addictive than buying guns.

Sounds familiar. Nomad 30 on the 300 blackout, 6.5 creedmoor and 300 HAMR with keymo. Now have dedicated cans on each one -- and just grabbed one for my 45/70.

Building a bolt suppressed .22 has been on my list for a while now and I think with the $0 tax stamp, its time to do it, so yea, it will be my first one as well.

I really like the RAR with the 10/22 mags, but the reviews aren't great. My buddy got a Bergara and really likes it. It shoots well and came pre-threaded. I just hate non-flush mags.

I've gone way down the accurate 22 rabbit hole. The Rugers are just not accurate. Yes, everyone claims their $200 Ruger 22 will shoot 1-inch groups with CCI SV at 100 yards, but we all know they are lying.

Even the best groups at the Lapua test center are barely that good, and they're generally testing some pretty expensive, and good stuff. I've sent two rifles to them. The best was my Vudoo which put 20 shots into a 1.2 -inch hole (as in, all bullets INSIDE the 1.2" hole, not a 1" group). NFW anyone is doing close to that with a $200 22 and CCI SV ammo.

I know lots of guys who have Bergara's and they shoot really well with good ammo.

EDIT to add, I also have a Tikka T1x. Very accurate for a factory rifle. Lots of good reviews, but the mag is not flush, but also does not stick out like the Bergara 10rd magazine. The Bergara 5rd magazine does not stick out very far.

That may be true for the bulk. I jad a ruger 1022 i bought at Service Merchandise is about 1990. By the time i graduated 5 years later I had shot the barrel smooth and the extractor no longer worked.

Fast forward a few years to my Junior year at A&M. My Dad gives it back to me. He had the action fixed, a target trigger installed, glass bedded the action, installed a little 4x Burris scope, and floated a douglas bull barrel on it. We took it out and at 50 yards (measured with a Calc-An-Acre) I put the first 10 rd mag into a group my dad covered with a dime.

After several mags while we were changing targets, he placed a beer bottle pointing towards us and said he'd give me $100 if i could shoot the ass end of it out. I got set, squeezed a round off and the bottle lazily rolled off to the right and fell off the target stand. Him and my uncle laughed at me. We walked down there and the bottle was in perfect shape, except the ass end was gone.

This was all with Aguila ammo we could buy at Glick Twins for about $25 a case. I stil love shooting that little rifle, and its ugly as sin compared to all the little dolled up customs today. Not sure about the newer ones but that one from the 90's can shoot. I'd pit it up against anything.

but that's not an 'off the shelf' Ruger 22 with that barrel and work done to it.

that would cost you probably close to $800 today.

Really if you find the right ammo any 22 will shoot well, it's just the cheap ammo is not that consistent. You'll get random fliers that don't happen with the better stuff. My Vudoo shoots the Lapua Center X I got for it great. If I put some SK Rifle Match in it (really the same stuff) it doesn't shoot worth a damn.
