Headed to POC Friday morning for a little duck hunting. If anyone has been recently, how are the ducks? Thx!

Had a group of guys I know that went about a month ago and killed zero birds. Literally zero. Not a redhead.

Had another group that went 2 weeks ago and killed a handful. It has been slow but this recent front will probably have them moving for you.

Have a buddy that hunted it a week ago. 3 days they shot 3, 12, 0. Said very little shooting for the numbers of groups out.

Do you guys know where you are going to hunt? I have some spots I will share with you via PM if you don't.

These spots historically have been good but don't know how they will be right now since I haven't scouted.

Numbers in POC were at an all time low right now. That front that moved in friday night killed the hunting for most of the weekend. Saturday was ROUGH! 25+ mph winds all day made for some tough and rough hunting conditions. We shot out redheads each hunt, but that was it. Very few of any other species out on the bays.

was out off Pringle lake Sunday morning. It was not great, 6 of us and we got 12 birds total. Reds, Green Wing, some pintail. Not a ton of shooting going on around the lake, Huge mass of birds high about Espiritu on the way in though. probably 2k. Heard Saturday had a lot of birds flying even with the wind, but not Sunday..

Thank you for the offer! My buddy is a guide and has a few stands he built on the water. Couldn't tell you where.

This is where Grem's Guide Service duck blind boat really shines. We just drive around till we find where the ducks want to be. Set up on em and light em up. Never fixed to a blind built into the bay floor and hope they check out our spread. Makes afternoons just as productive as mornings too.

I'll certainly keep you in mind.

I will tell you im not taking many customers. I have to manage expectations and be honest with the opportunity for shots. It has been slow.... ive been honest to tell people that and not take their money.

Then again some just want to go no matter what and understand the challenges. You always get my best effort.

Have done numerous trips in the duck blind boat way way out mid bay for bufflehead. They make a great trophy bird. Have had numerous very successful days targeting those lil jokers for smaller groups.

The big ducks are just a no show or wont work at all flying sky up needing an oxygen mask up there. Never seen this few birds in January.

But....cant shoot em at home.....

Understood.

My dad was a duck and goose guide for 30 years during the heyday of Eagle Lake. I was a helper at Blue Goose for a few years as well. Anytime I get a chance to climb into a blind and watch the sun rise with my son, dad and brother is a blessing no matter if we kill our limits or just kill time.

I went with a big group this past weekend on an annual guys trip. We hunted in 2 groups Friday evening and Saturday morning. We killed around 20 birds each hunt across 10 guys. We got our limit of 2 red heads a piece for the most part. Saw some pintails.

Lots of sitting and waiting and bull ****ting with the guide and each other.

I was there 3 weeks ago and the duck hunting was terrible

We killed exactly 4 Teal and 1 Bluebill in 2 days hunting and we were with a very well known guide

There just weren't any birds there.

Didnt see a single redhead or pintail flying. Did see some small rafts of blue bills
