Tonight, my cousin & her husband endured a 5 hour visitation. I got there at 6:00 after flying from Dallas to Baltimore & the line to the casket was always 10+ deep until about 8:00. The funeral home director told my other cousin they have never had a visitation this size & it just proves to the kind of kid Eli was. Floral arrangements in tractor vases were all over, along with cowboy hats & boots. How my cousin did this for 5 hours (not accounting for the one hour family viewing prior), I have no idea. When the line did go down, I finally went up & she couldn't look me in the eye, she's a strong one. But we embraced, cried, I told her that I loved her & she said she knew he was gone when they found him but she needed to have hope. She also said just needed to get this visitation done with & I can't even start to think how physically & emotionally draining this day was for them. I told her how amazing it is that she & Jim decided to save so many lives, one that we know was a baby who was going to receive part of his liver.
Tomorrow, he will be laid to rest. Her nightmare, is another mother's answered prayer.
Thank you for the prayers.
