How long do you want to ignore this user?
Howdy all-

Class of 21 here - relatively new to bird hunting, though Ive spent some time on birds when I was a good bit younger, just trying to get back into it in my "adult" years.

I am located in Houston metro and just starting to do some research on potential leases/clubs that offer self guided dove and duck hunting access. I am hoping to get a group of 3-5 guns together for next year. Looking to be within an hour and a half or so from Houston, but not super picky which direction. Yearly/Season budget is probably $1,500-$2,000 per member.

Please respond to this thread if you have any club/lease suggestions, or any advice at all.

Thanks in advance!

Not trying to be an ass at all but good luck and if you find something within your price range that isn't like a Riceland type outfit I am interested as well

For that price unfortunately you will be much better off booking 4-5 hunts with outfitters. Unless you have a dog you want to work, it's really almost not worth the hassle of paying $5K for a decent lease that may or may not have consistent birds to shoot.

Thanks all for your responses - how about ideas on a dove lease? lol

Dove leases are not worth it. It is better to get a group of friends, go to south texas (the valley), get an airbnb, and find a guide to let you hunt for $200 a day. Do this twice a season and it's enough. Put rest of effort into duck hunting.

Avoid Riceland Outfitters in eagle lake.

Find guides and pay them for the first couple of years so you can learn and dont drop thousands of dollars for a club. You will save money this way and learn much more before you start hunting on your own

I don't know anyone that has a dove and duck lease. Cool idea and hope you find something good. There was a poster a couple years ago posting a spot on a duck lease and I think it was around $4,000. If I remember correctly there were 5 spots total and that was for one spot. Lease costs are so crazy these days, which is why people are on the negative side of this. I hope you find something. For years I looked for a dove lease between Louisiana and Houston and never found anything. Only day hunts. Dove numbers have been so spotty in this area that I finally stopped looking(that and I never saw a dove lease opening).

Two years ago I went with a group and we hunted dove around Uvalde. It was a really good hunt. The outfitter we went with told us he had 30,000 acres(maybe more) leased for dove hunting and if there were birds in the area he would put us on them. He did. One of the best dove hunts I'd been on.
