How does Springfield compare to the pistols mentioned?

It does not.

OP, you may want to consider what you are using it for. If you are just taking it to the range or around the house, the 1911 will do. Just buy a jar of peanut butter to go with it.

If you are taking it to the mountains/hiking/bear country, get a Glock.

I do hate XDs though and I'm a huge Springfield fan.

I disagree. I don't really care for any of the plastic fantastics, but I kind of like my XD. I have two Glocks that I keep but won't buy another one. I bought a sub compact XD and it makes me want another one.

I have a Glock 20 that I got on a trade that included a puppy on the OB. Previous owner I think shot it competitively. It came with two barrels and four magazines. I love shooting that thing. I bought a .40 wolf barrel for it too and it makes it to the range relatively regularly. You know when you are going to the range to work on something and you think 'I should bring another gun' it's usually the one that goes.

It's surprisingly easy to shoot. I was expecting it to recoil similar to a .357 but it doesn't. It's much more controllable. It was hanging up a little bit so I replaced the recoil spring about a week ago. He had some big thick recoil spring in there that looked nothing like its stock replacement. Guessing that and isolating whichever magazine will fix that problem. Im actually waiting on a 10mm shipment to arrive to find out.

Love that gun.

One big problem with .10 is finding factory loadings that are not loaded to .40. Mag tech and Sellier seem to be more powerful than Federal and other US made stuff.

Underwood ammo! You're welcome.

(Would not own a Colt Delta Elite built after 2020)

Out of curiosity, why not?

When CZ purchased Colt in 2021 they ramped up production on the Delta Elites and the QC drastically declined. Not all were bad but they were really inconsistent in fit and finish and QC. You could get one that worked great or you could get one that was horrible. I'm a Colt guy and I bought one. Out of the box the slide locked up….not a single round fired. Colt would not let me exchange for a new one at the dealer and made me ship it to them.
Right now there are better options available imo.

Gunny, how do feel about DW now being under the CZ brand? Not a 10mm, but I've been window shopping a DW DWX 9mm, but haven't found a place to handle one, let alone fire one, and I'm not into spending that kind of money on a weapon sight unseen so to speak. I would assume most DW fans hate that CZ is the parent company now, but I'm wondering if you have any first hand knowledge of similar quality control issues since the transition.

DW has a great reputation under the CZ ownership.

I think the Colt Deltas fell off long before the CZ acquisition.

The guys I know that have the newer ones seem, for the most part to like them. Like everything else there are some bad stories to be had.
The difference seems to be CZ's goal at Colt was to start making a lot of everything to turn the numbers around. This ramp up in production caused some speed bumps in fit and finish and QC.
They didn't seem to have that as their goal with Dan Wesson so things somewhat have stayed status quo.

If you want to get really esoteric with your 10mm, you can get a S&W 610 revolver.

Just FYI.

I had thought about a Chiappa Rhino in 10mm, but I'm holding out until they come out with a .44 mag.

Wound up getting a Dan Wesson Specialist in 10mm with the duty finish, not cut for optics, but half railed for a light. Still breaking it in but have 500 rounds through it now but it should be about there. Dealing with the initial FTF issues from the tight fitting until I can get her loosened up some.

She's louder than what most of the old boys bring to the range so I've gotten questions every time.

Will put up some pics later.

I have one. And a Ruger Redhawk and a Buckeye Special Ruger Blackhawk all in 10mm. They're super fun and accurate.
