Electricity usage is definitely down the list for me. My main priority for draining is not having to worry about power loss or the pump stopping for unknown reasons. I think if I ran my pump 24 hrs it's only ~$6 a day. So this week it would cost me an extra $18 to keep running as my freeze sensor usually kicks on around 37*. So, if I can save $18 and not have to worry about anything else and it only takes me 3 minutes to drain, that's the option I choose.

So my entire pool completely froze over in 2021. Just spent thousands two weeks ago to get the mastic joint, tiles, stones, and plaster redone. Installed stone scape from regular plaster. I had a repairman check for leaks in the equipment on Tuesday of this week….


And here we are. It's still running and hope it can get to Wednesday. I pulled the baskets and put milk cartons in the skimmers. I built a tent over the equipment, but I don't have a heat lamp for it. What do you guys think?

I mean its probably still leaking and dripping down while the pump is running.

I wouldn't worry about it until it thaws or you lose power, which seems unlikely at this point.
