Have numerous holes pop up in my mother's back yard. She gets the occasional gopher but those dudes push up a mound of dirt so I don't think it a gopher. These are just redbull can sized holes and they appear to go down a foot or so. Anyone have a clue what could be making these? I tried flooding one this evening but nothing ever came out. I'll snap some pics in the morning.

It would help to know location.

If TX especially East TX I'd say moles.

However, I don't think "gophers" exist in ETX...

I suggest buying a bunch of dynamite and placing in each hole. That'll get rid of them

Armadillos? They'll leave a path of holes, but not that deep, when rooting for grubs.

I had a few and thought they were rat holes. One day a saw a face and it didn't run away. Looked closer and it was a toad.

That looks like armadillo to me - but you say they are foot deep? I thought those foraging holes are about half that…. But on appearance and frequency alone - I agree with the poster above: armadillo.

Hard to know what size from those pics, but armadillos, squirrels, skunks all make similar looking holes. Those are not moles or gophers. By the way, there are absolutely pocket gophers all over east Texas, lots of them.

You have to use C4 sculpted into the shape of a bunny or squirrel.
