Just bought a threaded 10/22 to run my suppressor on.

Really considering going with a red dot instead of regular scope for quick target acquisition as a plinker and taking care of nuisance critters around the house.

I have a 1-6 on mine. Good compromise if you ask me

Just depends on what you want to do with it. I have a red dot on one with an integral suppresser. Kids absolutely love it for shooting steel. For shooting a squirrel in the head or blackbird at 50 yards, Id rather have any old 3-9x40.

I have a Holosun 510 on mine. Basically any red dot will work. If you have a picatinny rail, then the options are absolutely limitless. If you don't, the there a lot of good options; Aimpoint makes a mount for Micro T1 optics, but there are a lot of more economical red dots that will use the same mount.

As for using a red dot over a scope for a plinker, once you've tried it, you'll never look back.

A Primary Arms 3x prism would be a good mix of both a red dot and a magnified optic.

Just plinking and taking care of the occasional critter attracted by our chickens. I have a scoped old Marlin .22lr for longer range accuracy type work.

+1 on the magnified prism. I have a Burris 3x prism with an illuminated reticle on my M&P15-22 and it works well for plinking. Great alternative to a red dot if you have astigmatism. They also make a 5x if you want to shoot farther out, but I wouldn't recommend it for a .22.
