Cubs moms had an inspiration for a fundraiser, and took inspiration from a cheap Etsy pine decor.

I decided we could do something better with some walnut/cherry/hickory/maple. My son went to dealer to secure a discount price and then we went to town. I got most of the shapes cut with jig saw and then had the boys all do hand sanding on parts.

Parents helped boys with glue up and then parents did laquer and twine wrap. Overall, got about 35 decorations made for sale at our KOC fish fry's during lent…

Thanks.

It was really fun walking the boys through the how and why of sanding up through grits (plus I didn't have to sand them, cuz sanding sucks).

Then educating them on how the different glued work and purpose of having traditional wood glue for strength and then CA glue as our "clamp", to help speed up assembly process.

If we sell them all, this is probably going to be one of our best fundraisers, and a lot more rewarding than schlepping popcorn buckets.

We are trying to prepare them to think through projects like this, at their level, to help prepare them for Scouts and building towards an Eagle project.
