Anyone have a good recommendation for a vet to repair a dog's knee? My vet in Midland thinks my dog has a complete ACL tear and probably a slight tear in the meniscus. Should I just call A&M, or does anyone have any other good recommendations? I don't believe there is anyone in Midland that does the surgery.

Dog is a 7 year old Golden Retriever, weighs 91 lbs as of a few days ago.

Depending on how far you want to drive... Dr. Clary at Live Oak Animal Hospital in Lubbock is amazing.

That seems like about the shortest drive I could hope for. My vet was saying I'd probably need to go to DFW, Austin or San Antonio.

Do some research, but I thought Gulf Coast Veterinary Specialists were the experts for repairs; at least for sporting dogs.

Page Dr. boogs here on the OB. He has forgot more about dog joints than most will ever know.

I'm one of the orthopedic surgeons at Texas A&M. PM me or post contact info if you'd like to visit about the services we can provide you and your dog. Have helped a lot of Ags from TexAgs OB over the years, glad to do the same for you if you are interested.

I was going to DM, but no stars. I assume you've had some experience with Dr. Clary? My vet is really pushing that I find a board certified Vet since he's a larger dog, but I'm not sure if that's necessary.

Our dog had TPLO surgery at the vet school last year (135# GP/Mastiff mix) and walked out of the hospital with no problems. Just hoping that his other knee holds up as they told me there was a 50% chance his other knee would go out in the next year or two.....
