TLDR; I put a wood stock on a gun.
One of my time and money wastes is collecting certain firearms. I recently picked this up, but it was the "all weather" version. That means plastic stock. I didn't like it but I knew that when I bought it and thought it would be a fun project. Fast forward I found a guy that had a takeoff stock. It did require some minor fitting and I had to bed the trigger gaurs to get the mag to close. This is a two piece bottom metal and everything has to be lined up. Theninletting was a hair too deep. So, I bedded it at the right depth and it's good. The bolt was rubbing on the inletting there as well so I took a rotary tool and shaved off a little bit and then flattened with a file.
Now, this is a NEW version of this stock so it is not what would have come in this rifle if it had been ordered with walnut. It's got a square shoulder instead of the double slanted like the sporter classics. Otherwise, it dropped in. Someone had bedded their previous rifle and it fit this one close enough.
Anyway, it's not original, unfortunately don't have the red recoil pad, but screw it. It's a hunter and it doesn't hurt to have the Pachmayer on this old .30-06.
This is also a BOSS version. Value on these is not what a NON BOSS would be. They are ugly and many folks just don't like the look. I don't care and the system works very well. Plus, I don't have one and now I do.
So here it is…with 100% more walnut.nevermind the smudges, I didn't get all of the Renaissance wax off I guess.

Only thing I don't love is the rear sling stud being black. I have a stainless one, but this one is mounted well and very secure and I just don't want to back it out for a color swap. I may put the black fore end stud back so they match. I was just playing with looks.
As someone once told me "screw resale value, this is the F150 of firearms." lol.
