Looking to buy a safe for the house for guns and important documents. Probably needs to be a 42+ gun safe with some form of shelves on one side. What do you recommend TexAgs?

Please don't recommend Liberty Safes.

Also needs to be fire-rated.

Kinda funny. We got a gun safe and it's in our closet. Not many guns, but we store a ton of documents

Got it from Tractor Supply.

I did tons and tons of research before I bought my safe. I boil it down to 3 things.
1. Buy something made in the USA
2. The heavier the better because heavier equals thicker steel and more security
3. As everyone says , buy bigger than you think you need

Not sure why everyone says buy bigger than you need?

Why not buy an additional one or two as you need them? I know someone who has three gun safes, all bolted to the wall or floor and all in closets - none of them huge, just the right size. Not left out in the garage with the temperature/humidity changes.

Check out Hollon gun safes made in Corpus Christi, different levels of quality, if you get the top 2 levels in quality, they are at the top with thickness and excellent break in proof quality on dial in or combo access preventing breaking.

Get the biggest one you can get for the space you have. I prefer a mechanical dial. Liberty is a good choice but lots of others.
