OK I've thought about starting this thread for a while, so here goes.

I have a great view of Easterwood airport, and thought some MyBCS followers would enjoy knowing what (unusual) aircraft are coming in and out.

First post, Friday 12:20
3 CH-53s arrived, making very aggressive turns on the way in. In town for the flyover...very cool.

Fridays before a game are always fun. Lots of aircraft coming and going. I just checked Flightaware and the OU charter hasn't filed a plan yet. They usually land around 3 or 4.

If there's a third turbine on the port side, they are "Echoes" (CH-53E), else they are Deltas.
If it reads "Navy" down the side, then, technically, they are RH-53.

Still, very cool birds, for being fling-wings. Anything that can take off at a gross overall weight of around 53,000 pounds, yet will fold up and fit inside a cargo aircraft is pretty cool.

Those things buzzed the house in Edelweiss Gartens this morning. Pretty cool, though it didn't occur to me that it was for another football flyover. Seems like it was just yesterday that the two F-16s were playing around in my airspace.

An Air Force aviator told me that they like B/CS because they need a civillian airport to train from and Easterwood is big enough to use but not too big like Bush Intl.

The military can use it with out interupting regular flights.
Plus the military guys love the college girls....just being honest.

We hung out at the airport yesterday and saw them take off for Kyle

Also lucked out when a private landed, saw my wife and son and said have it guys:


Was a Citation III, sat inside of it and immediately understood the powerful draw to fly private as opposed to commercial.

I think you are not supposed to wander around apron unless you have a plane, but security was fairly lax.

I think this is a great idea! Although I am not at a pc all the time a text would be awesome! I know some pretty cool stuff flies in from time to time and it would be nice to know.
