FYI - I once got an Uber from IAH after missing the last shuttle. It was about $100+ a tip. Much cheaper and more convenient and quicker than a one-way rental

Yeah that was my back up plan. But luckily the shuttle worked out. Highly recommend it to anyone making that trip. It was great.
