If you could sell a 1/2 acre lot for many millions vs hang on to it and preserve "historical Northgate", I am betting everyone posting here would sell.

FYI - I hate the high rises and like Northgate as it was. Just saying that I understand why everyone is selling. It can create generational wealth.
I really really hate the high rises as well. Hope NG doesn't really go away but I hate seeing how the cityscape has changed. Don't want to start looking like Austin.
As A&M get to 150,000 students or more, you will see more and more high rises.

The city and Chamber has promoted maximum growth, prosperity, and increased employment opportunities for decades and all that is on paper good, but there are unintented consequences. Now with the high rises and traffic issues, we are getting what they wanted.
But then they wanna strangle all development everywhere around campus

Unless they can build a nice new city hall across from campus on prime real estate so they can get noticed.

150k students? Where on earth are you getting that from? I doubt enrollment is going to more than double anytime soon.

Certainly not with the demographic crunch that is going to kill some colleges.

I don't mind them building them around the perimeter but c'mon - you're going to stick one right out the back door of the Chicken?
Fo' shizzle. Would be great if they would have set a perimeter/bubble around campus. Lord knows they have the land.

How typical-

Ultimately, council chose to pass the changes, acknowledging the frustration of the large crowd.

Damned the will of the people, we want to do this

I would like to see what John Raney or the Boyett family would do with all the commercial buildings, including The Chicken, they both own that faces Univ drive in NG if they were offered four or five million dollars?

They might just put a high rise right where the Chicken is.

Hurricane Harry's announced it closing and the property is going to be redeveloped. What's going in there?

Complete redevelopment of that property, parking lot included. If I remember correctly, and I may not, this is a Culpepper property and redevelopment.

Yes the Culpepper's are redeveloping with a mixed-use development targeting an interesting user to anchor the development.

Developers and REIT controls business. That leads to tax dollars.

Enjoy and photograph Northgate while it lasts. Soon, it will be only memories.
