Do families still load up the car to go look at Christmas lights @ B-CS homes?

.....or is that a thing of the past?

Back in the 70's, my parents loaded all us kids up in the ol' station wagon on a Saturday night and we spent a couple of hours cruising the hoods for houses with quality decorations in CS.

Back then, no Central Park lights or Santa's Wonderland were even thought of.

Seems like more and more homeowners are decorating their homes for Christmas these days than say 20 years ago. Just wondering if this still a thing that families still do.

We usually drive through a few neighborhoods on Christmas Eve on our way home from church.

Local realtor Wendy Flynn post a list each year on a page called Best Lights Of The Brazos. The page says this year's list will come out tomorrow.

We used to create a "Christ" bingo card with various decorations to keep the kids entertained. It became increasingly challenging through the years.

Miss those days.

I'm not sure how that list is determined, but I don't really trust it. Our neighbors are on there every year and all they have are basic lights on the house and some in the tree.

I don't think anyone gives around and looks at it. You or someone else can just suggest your house be added, I think.

We do! We make apple cider or hot cocoa, go to Central Park, then drive around the neighborhood on the way back home. When I have my act together, we have cookies, too!

Think anyone can be on it, just have to submit your address.

We somewhat do the same thing. I have an 11 and 14 year old and they still enjoy it (at least for now). It was something we always did when I was growing up. There are some really displays out there, if you can find them.

But I do agree, to look at the list(s) that you can try and find out there.

I never submitted anything. Someone else did or someone was driving around

Think they do get submissions from others and by driving around. I have never submitted my address, I do lights and the first year my address was not on there, but others on my street were. Then the next year mine was on there.

Also The street in live on has alot of lights and one year instead of listing all the individual address they just listed the street of xxxx.

If you look back at previous years' lists on the Best Lights of the Brazos FB page, you can see which streets are usually heavily decorated.

I think less and less people decorate their houses now vs 20 years ago

We do as a family. It's one of our traditions! We make multiple trips through different neighborhoods. I definitely think there are more lights this year. Copperfield is always good along with Pebble Creek. Greenbrier behind Austin's Colony is good too.
We'll win this war, but we'll win it only by fighting and by showing the Germans that we've got more guts than they have, or ever will have. We're not going to just shoot the sons-of-b******, were going to rip out their living G*******d guts and use them to grease the treads of our tanks. We're going to murder those lousy Hun c********** by the bushel-f****** basket. War is a bloody killing business. You've got to spill their blood or they will spill yours. Rip them up the belly. Shot them in the guts.

Every Christmas eve our standing tradition is Santa's Wonderland followed by a drive around town to see the lights on people's homes. Put it on Christmas music in the truck (Pandora) sip our hot chocolate and get ready for Santa!!!
