Had lunch there a few weeks ago----during their soft opening period. The food was really good.

With Varsity grill closing fresh on our minds I have never been in the restaurant business but try and mentally say to myself if they will make it here and my record is pretty good over the last almost 50 years.
I was at Cheddars the first day it opened 25 years ago and know management etc over the years just as a customer I have no stake in the business or property. Lunch today - 2 tall draft miller lights salad with blue cheese and loaded baked potato - bill 19.21 and I added a generous tip to that
I said Cheddars would make it 25 years ago and I said Varsity would not 9 months ago.

College kids raised on McNuggets happy meals continue to eat them in adulthood. This was Ray Kroc'a vision….
It was a franchise for many years the Darden group bought all of Cheddars a few years back.
My point was simple offer good food at a fair price and the same would be true for anyone else.

Never had a Miller Lite Salad. Gotta try that.
Make sure it's the draft miller lite salad. The bottled one isn't quite as fresh.

They are losing millions, not surprising they needed a boost to their balance sheet. They lost 3.3m in 2024 even with this sale.
The Holleman one technically replaces Marion Pugh's (south campus) location though it doesn't seems to do a lot of college business anymore. (Maybe it's all gone to delivery.)maroon barchetta said:

Did they write a bunch of bad loans? I imagine it to be hard to lose money as a credit union.
Atwood's would be a great addition to BCS. My hometown had one as well as Tractor Supply and I always preferred Atwood's.

My vote would be yes. I don't really consider Murdoch's & Northern Tool to be apples to apples with Atwood's/TSC. Similar yes, but not exactly the same. Location is also relevant here. That part of Bryan/2818 is growing rapidly.

Was walking in Downtown Bryan today and the old Downtown Uncorked/Vino Boheme had a sign up for "Casa Monarca Mexican Cantina." Windows were completely covered but could hear active work happening in there.
