2015 GMC Sierra 1500 that I'm wanting to hang on to since I'm just getting it broken in with 188K miles. Feeling a bit of slippage in the transmission from time to time. I've looked at what new trucks cost and it's stupid expensive. Oliver Brothers, B&B, BCS Transmission? I have no idea on who to trust. Appreciate any suggestions

If price matters, going to Houston will be leaps and bounds cheaper. We had our engine rebuilt this past summer. Shops here quoted 4-5k higher than anywhere we looked in Houston. Ended up at a little shop in the Spring area with great reviews. They rebuilt it quick, at a good price, and we have a 150k mile warranty on it.

Was wondering about the difference, my old neighbor had his done about 18 months back and it was $3700 for a rebuild with a 5-year warranty.

We paid 6.5-7k for the rebuild this summer. Everywhere in BCS was quoting between 11-14k

Bryan Auto Repair. Their address is 11588 Veterans Memorial Dr D, Houston

Not the best area, but they were the nicest guys and did some quality work.

Have the guy I used off Telge Road when I lived in Cypress, but the convenience level is not there to use Robert at Telge Automotive.

Just as an aside, you'll want to put in a billet converter when they do the rebuild. That transmission (6L80e) is inherently flawed, and it's the torque converter that goes and trashes the rest of it. Putting in a billet solves this problem. While you're there go ahead and do the transmission fluid thermal bypass, you can google to get all the info on this. In short, they run way too hot from the factory and GM recognized it years after the fact and released a service bulletin with a new part that drastically reduces the temp in the transmission.

Well this right here would be who I would use if once you take it in and they do not suggest these items then they are not keeping up with the industry

Just what I think

I try to always offer suggestions on what I would do to make something better I never care if you say yes or no. Just my job to suggest

Keep us posted on where you end up. Also have a '15 Sierra 1500. I did take mine in to Oliver Bros a couple of years ago to get it looked at and they also noted some issues with that model's transmission. They were good to deal with and felt like they shot straight with me. I'm sure it hasn't changed but you're going to have to call ahead of time and make sure they can take a new job.

I will say to stay far away from AAMCO. Although it's been quite a few years (probably around 2009), had a family member with a really horrible experience.
