There's some transparent government.
I'm pretty sick of the smoke and mirrors from CoCS.

January 27 I did an ORR for:
"Documents related to the city's decision to purchase property at Post Oak Mall including correspondence with any outside consulting firms or Texas A&M or its affiliates. This may also include plans to use the property for a specific purpose. Documents relating to a city agreement with Texas A&M or its affiliates regarding an esports facility or other use by the University or its affiliates. These documents might be dated from January 1, 2020 to the present."
They responded with a request to the AG "to withhold a portion of the information pursuant to exceptions found in the Texas Government Code 552.101 to 552.158."
They didn't actually release anything. So I am not sure what they meant by "portion." And the sections of the code they vaguely cited are basically the whole exceptions list. I am not sure what the deal is. But they were required to turn docs over a couple of days ago.
All information, excepting personel information or information on any security issues, should be immediately available to any citizen of the city on demand.EliteElectric said:We're all sure what the deal is at this point, a cat covering tracks.Brian Alg said:

I've ready every post on this thread, and have withheld comment on multiple occasions, for my own personal reasons. However, showing my/our appreciation for you, cannot be stated often enough!

I think we should sell the property to Jim Lewis at a price of $2.5M, with a sincere apology from the City. Seriously.
Bumping this thread, not to stoke the a fire, but to throw out another possible option that I believe would be quite feasible. Note that the feasibility is not related to the price paid because I do not think there is a world that exists that ever can justify that type of valuation for a building size in this location and existing condition. I define feasible as what the space could be conducive for and what the market would receive as it relates to what would add value to the overall market, so here goes:Bob Yancy said:hopeandrealchange said:99StationAG said:

An indoor Go-Kart track venue, basically opening up a K1 Speed location here. There is no place to go-kart in this market. It is fun for bachelor parties, birthday parties, frat parties, sorority parties, high-school kids, college kids, and even middle elementary youth kids. A lot of times you have to be 48" or taller so that removes the littler ones from the mix, but ours could have youth karts to hit all age ranges. I had my bachelor party at a K1 speed when I was in my late 20s and recently had a birthday party in my late 30s ten years later and it was just as fun.
I think it would work in this location because of the size of the space, access to Highway 6, and the fact that there is no other offering of this type of entertainment in the marketplace here.
My $0.02

Thanks for the quick and insightful response. But, I do not know why the karting needs to happen or was specifically tested on the 2nd floor. 2nd floor Karting requires a lot more structural engineering and integrity than doing it on the first floor. Turn 2nd floor into arcade type environement, keep Karting on 1st floor.Bob Yancy said:MS08 said:Bumping this thread, not to stoke the a fire, but to throw out another possible option that I believe would be quite feasible. The original buyer bought it from Macy's land holdings for that purpose. He actually got some go karts upstairs and raced around the second story circular deck. He had an engineer with him and they measured vibration in the frame and it was too high. They were afraid the second story subfloor would shake apart if multiple go karts were up there racing around.
This is why he listed the property, I am told anyway by a private sector entrepreneur involved in the process.
We continue to receive interesting inquiries. One in particular I am hopeful for. Nothing disclosable at this time. Apologies.

Interesting. Our market is definitely ripe for it, unsure about Waco and what other Karting offerings exist or do not exist in Waco.Captn_Ag05 said:

That's what I was thinking. If they are electric carts, could the track go on the first floor and the second floor have party rooms, games, etc...MS08 said:Thanks for the quick and insightful response.
