Ok, gotcha. Regan gets 10 people and he gets the floor for 10 minutes. It took me a while.
I guess this did not end up happening? He spoke for three minutes.

I wasn't there. I thought he had 5 people that gave him 10 minutes.

Craig made a compelling case that wasn't rude or disrespectful. He is a Navy veteran so he knows how to deliver a briefing.

Craig only had 4 at the deadline. Need 5 for 10 minutes, like the midtown folks had. One was my 17 year old daughter. She was mad enough to go after she learned that we could have had a Dave and Busters type place.

We seriously need folks to get involved. Supporting us on Texags is great. To truly change the current one party rule in CS, we need folks willing to roll up their sleeves and get involved!

Let me be totally clear.

I tried to lay out for people one single point

The city overstepped a LOCAL business after the LOCAL business approached the city!

The city then cut then out entirely.

How... How is any local company ever supposed to trust a deal with CoCS.

this is about the long term ramifications as well as the immediate consequence aka ($$$$)

Curious as to whether we could pass a law to make city real estate acquisitions subject to vote?

the best thing to do is to pass an ordinance that says council cannot buy something over 500,000? without meeting a set of criteria that staff has to meet and to include in their "findings".

But that would require GOV imposing restraints on itself... what an idea

Yes, the citizens of College Station have the power of initiative.

Derails or multiple discussions in one thread make it difficult for the subject to be discussed. Thank you for your help. -Staff[

When the City council found out that the city manager and assistance withheld the information about Jim 'offer, he should have been fired the next day.

Can't you imagine being the assistant to the CEO of a major corporation and withheld fnformation from the CEO that cost the company 7 million dollars and a reacurring monthly cost. You would have been given 5 minutes to get your personal items off your desk before you were led to the front door and asked for the building keys.

That was the huge red flag for me as well, even before we got access to the ORR docs. If mayor and staff were on the up and up and truly believed they were righteous in all of this they would have produced the info ricky tick to anyone to see. Instead they behaved like Enron when the regulators showed up.

When my 10yo gets a 100 on a test she can't wait to tell me about it, when she gets a 70 she suddenly gets amnesia about how well she did on that one. These guys got an F-

Thank you but all I am trying to do at the end of the day is start to inject some honest debate.

The deflections and "wave offs" of some folks in town is getting to be really frustrating.

It is not like I am using bad number or making stuff up. It's just facts. And the more you tell me (or for that matter don't tell me) what you see if not real, the more frustrating it gets.

To take this analogy one step further, the CEO colluded with the chairman of the board (Mayor) to keep it away from The rest of the board (Council), and shareholders (taxpayers).

If the mayor doesn't step in quickly in lockstep with the rest of the council to come down hard on The city manager, his legacy is going to be one of suspected corruption.

You did a great job and I am sure by now they are in full fledge track covering mode. Between your presentation and KBTX pointing non Texag'ers to this thread and it's glorious trove of info, I am sure by now the temp is rising on the tushies of those whom have operated unchecked for years. By now they hear drums in the distance and can smell the torches and see pitchforks coming. Finally. If I lived in CoCS I would 100% run next cycle just to be a complete fly in the ointment.

I really appreciate the kind comments on here, and I know y'all don't give them out easily, or often, so it means a lot. Thank you.

Please also bear in mind that compliments at the expense of my colleagues, or comparing and contrasting leadership styles or backgrounds, is somewhat counterproductive. We're all volunteers, care deeply about our city, and want what's best even if we don't see eye to eye on some things. We also have to work with each other and without support, no one councilmember can achieve anything alone.

I hope that makes sense and again, thank you kindly.

Respectfully yours,

Yancy '95
My opinions are mine and should not be construed as those of city council or staff. I welcome robust debate but will cease communication on any thread in which colleagues or staff are personally criticized. I must refrain from comment on posted agenda items until after meetings are concluded. Bob Yancy 95

I understand your desire to soften some criticism of your colleagues. You have to work with them, we do not, especially those of us who are not residents. I 100% understand your desire to maintain some regality.

The statement that "We're all volunteers, care deeply about our city, and want what's best" although very like true, has to be viewed through the prism of what their vision of what's best actually is.

Their vision and mine probably are not congruent.
