I am looking for recommendations for a gastroenterologist who has a focus in his/her practice on cirrhosis of the liver. (I will be traveling from Huntsville.)

I don't know about a focus area but Derbes has been great for me.

Central tx gi has nothing but good docs. But i would recommend finding a good hepoatologist on the woodlands or Houston.

Can't speak to this specific condition. I have Crohns and see Dr Pham locally. He is a great GI. However, due to my issues with crohns my surgeons and specialized GI doctor is in Houston through Houston Methodist. If this requires more specialized knowledge, I'd recommend starting in Houston.

Also a Dr. Derbes patient with Crohn's for 15 years now. He's been amazing.

Thank you for your responses. A transplant is not an option for me due to age basically and other health issues. Think I just need a more refined diagnosis and management.
Will call Central TX GI and see if any of the doctors there do that. I am mostly looking for management.

I see Dr. Chang at Central TX Gastroenterology. She was a resident of Dr. J. Gillotti at the Liver Center@ Methodist in downtown Houston. He sent me to her. She has done great at managing my NASH and other weird liver stuff since 2020. I was seeing Dr. Gillotti before.

Disclaimer: my wife works at Central Texas GI, but any of the doctors there are great. I see Derbes, and so does she. We even use the other Dr. Derbes (his wife) as our ophthalmologist.
